The captivating gameplay of Horizon Forbidden West offers players several crucial choices throughout the game that may have a lasting impact on the storyline and the gameplay. Players will encounter one such seemingly important choice during the side quest, ‘The Gate of the Vanquished.’ This sidequest will be available to players after completing both the “Thirst for the Hunt” and “The Wound in the Sand” for the Tenakth’s Desert Clan.
During this quest, players will have to decide whether to join the side of Drakka or Yarra. Drakka wishes to overthrow Yarra because of her lies and poor leadership, while Yarra wants to punish Drakka for putting Scalding Spear’s water supply at risk and for his rebellious behavior.
Players can choose a side between Drakka and Yarra based on their personal preferences and emotions, as this choice does not affect the storyline and future gameplay in any significant manner.
Once you reach the Gate of the Vanquished, speak to Jetakka, who is trying to talk Drakka and Yarra out of the bloody conflict. After talking to him, you will be given a choice to either talk to Drakka and Yarra or directly ‘choose a side.’
You can try convincing both of them to abandon the battle and work together for the betterment of their clan, but they will reject Aloy’s plea to stop the conflict and ask her to pick a side. Now, you will again be given the option to either pick a side or ask both of them to stand down.
The latter choice still won’t matter, and eventually, you will have to choose who you wish to fight alongside.
A battle will begin after you pick a side, during which either Drakka or Yarra will die by the hands of the person you sided with, and the victor will remain or become the new leader of the Tenakth’s Desert Clan.
Players will receive the Firestorm Warrior Bow as a reward from the person they supported after winning the battle. Later, they will also receive a quest from the survivor, but the content of the following quests and storyline will remain unchanged in both cases.
Ultimately, the choice presented in this quest has no major impact on the storyline or the gameplay, and it is merely a matter of personal preference.
