Shigaraki’s Unexpected End in ‘My Hero Academia’ Leaves Fans Feeling Conflicted

My Hero Academia chapter 423 concludes the final war of the series, and fans are completely conflicted about it. While the show was on a streak, the latest chapter, however, seemed to have caused clashing reactions among the fans. It was mostly due to the conclusion that the writers gave to Shigaraki.

1. I stopped because you wanted to be stopped!

The much-awaited battle between Shigaraki and Deku concluded on a rather underwhelming note. The entire battle was emotion-heavy, with little to no combat action.

After Shigaraki was taken over by All For One, the battle shifted gears, and it ended when Deku delivered a powerful blow to the greatest villain of the series. However, this final punch on All For One led to Shigarki’s death, and many fans do not seem happy about this creative decision.

Before Shigaraki could crumble, we see him talk about his grandmother to Deku. His grandma dragged him back and stopped him from destroying everything.

Deku also replies by saying that Shigaraki wanted to be stopped, and that is why he stopped him.

2. Is Shigarki’s death justified?

Asking if Shigarki’s death was justified might have sounded ridiculous at the beginning of the series. However, as the series continued, fans noticed manipulative patterns around this character.

After witnessing his childhood and all the pain that he went through, it would be unfair to say that Shigaraki deserved to die. He essentially never had the freedom to discover himself.

He was manipulated right from his birth. All For One even stripped the good of the quirk before giving it to Shigaraki. He was a character forced to go down the path of death and destruction.

Additionally, as fans noted it’s important to understand that while Shigaraki’s death might not have been entirely unjustified, how he died was.
