Kenshin saves Myojin from yakuza in episode 3 of Rurouni Kenshin 2023, titled “Kasshin-ryu-Reborn.”

It was an ordinary episode with nothing major or significant happening other than Myojin becoming a disciple of Kaoru’s dojo. The whole episode was about Kenshin showing up at the right time to deal with the matter at hand.

First, he dealt with the yakuza and later with the Guren Gang. That was all that happened in this episode. We didn’t get any major plot progress, but it was still a good time pass entertainer.

Kenshin and Kaoru will meet Sanosuke in episode 4 of Rurouni Kenshin 2023, titled “The Fighter for Hire- Sanosuke Sagara.”

We saw a post-credit scene in the previous episode where an unknown man brutally beats up the Guren Gang. He wonders whether there is someone strong enough to face him.

Well, good news for him as he will be meeting Kenshin in the next episode. However, their meeting would be pretty peaceful. They will come across each other in the shop of Tae, an accomplice of Kaoru.

There, Sanosuke will get in a fight against some drunkards, but he will come to like Kenshin during all that.

3. Episode 4 Recap

Myojin gets badly beaten and taken to the yakuza boss. There too, he refuses to work for the yakuza anymore. The gang members start beating him brutally.

While beating him, Gaskeh mocks his parents, and this angers Myojin. He bites Gaskeh in his private part. Gaskeh is about to attack him with a sword when Kenshin comes in.

Kenshin tells the boss to leave the kid. The boss gets terrified by Kenshin’s eyes and leaves them. Kenshin takes him away. Myojin cries as he wants to become stronger so that he can protect his family’s honor on his own.

Kenshin reaches home and announces that Kaoru will be Myojin’s instructor. He doesn’t seem to be much interested in training under her. A group of enthusiastic men shows up at the dojo after hearing about the police incident.

However, Kenshin tells them that he didn’t learn his sword technique at that dojo, causing everyone to leave. Myojin is still not obedient and goes ahead by mocking Kaoru’s dojo.

This saddens her, and he, too, regrets what he said. Suddenly, Hiro and Sato show up. They had got into trouble with some goons who were causing problems in the town.

Dozens of goons show up. They all belong to Hishimanji Guren Gang. They try to break into the dojo. Myojin accuses Hiro and Sato of getting drunk and ending up in a fight against the goons.

The gang uses wood canon to break into the dojo. Kaoru is ready to take the blame for what the duo did, but Myojin disagrees with her taking the blame. Kenshin arrives at the right time. The gang leader fires a canon at him, but he cuts it in half, causing the gang to flee away.

Kenshin tells Hiro and Sato never to pick up a sword again. They take their leave. Kenshin tells Kaoru not to get worried as she will definitely get more students in due time.

Myojin accepts to become the student of Kaoru, and the dojo takes a small but significant step toward rebirth.

Rurouni Kenshin is a manga series written and illustrated by Nobuhiro Watsuki. It was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1994 to 1999. The 2023 series will be a reboot of the 1996 series, re-adapting the original manga.

In the Meiji era, 11th year, Kenshin Himura is a wandering samurai who was once feared as an assassin. However, he has taken a vow to never kill people and atone for his crimes.
