With theatres and cinema halls closed, the situation has affected the release of many films. The latest anime film to take the hit is Revue Starlight.

Directed by Tomohiro Furukawa, the film follows the Seisho Music Academy’s 99th graduating class students who are persuaded by a mysterious talking giraffe to take part in a secret audition.

The event eventually turns into a competition among the aspiring artists to determine who the best student in the class is.

The official website of Revue Starlight has announced that the anime film will now be released on June 4.

“Revue Starlight” anime film, which was going to be released on May 21, will now be released on June 4, 2021. This change is in consideration with the extension of the emergency state.

The film was initially scheduled to be released on May 21. But with the fourth state of emergency effective till the end of May, the producers of the film have decided to postpone its theatrical release.

The new release date may be changed again if the Japanese authorities issue further guidelines.

The website also announced that the online sale of advanced tickets would continue till June 3. The tickets which have been purchased for May 21 will be valid for the premiere on June 4.

The anime film is the sequel to the first film in the franchise, which was also delayed under similar conditions last year. The film’s trailer was released back in August 2020 along with the information regarding the cast and crew.

Earlier in the month, the anime films “Wani Lived for 100 Days” and “Knights of Sidonia: Love Woven in the Stars” were also announced to be postponed due to COVID.

Despite the disappointment among the fans, the strict guidelines introduced by the Japanese authorities will help the nation curb the rising number of coronavirus cases.

The anime Revue Starlight had been licensed by Sentai Filmworks. The original anime series has 12 episodes and aired from July 12, 2018 – September 27, 2018. It is written by Tatsuto Higuchi and directed by Tomohiro Furukawa. They are also responsible for the film Revue Starlight Rondo Rondo Rondo.

Hikari and Ajio are childhood friends who have promised to perform together in the future but as time goes by they are separated and attend different schools.

Karen enrolls in the Seisho Music Academy to continue working toward their promise. This academy trains students in acting, dancing and singing.

But a mysterious underground competition is held and it is hosted by a talking giraffe. Both Hikari and Ajio get involved. They perform together to outdo the other participants and to reach achieve the top star title.
