COVID-19 Crisis in Japan: Upcoming Knights of Sidonia Anime Film Delayed!

The coronavirus pandemic has affected the entertainment industry heavily. Japan’s policy of on and off states of emergency has delayed the release of several films. Studios and distribution companies are unable to predict a good time for the release of films.

The third state of emergency is scheduled to end on May 11. But unfortunately, due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, the Japanese authorities are all set to introduce the fourth state of emergency. Because of this, several anime films, which were supposed to be released in May, are now postponed.

The anime film “Knights of Sidonia: Love Woven in the Stars” will now be released on June 4.

The film was initially slated for a release on May 14, but the recently announced stricter guidelines prevent the opening of theatres and cinema halls. The highly anticipated film features some big name in its cast, including Yuma Uchida and Yuto Uemura. The film’s plot revolves around the war between Sidonia and Gauna.

Unfortunately, the Knights of Sidonia is not the only franchise suffering in this period.

The official website of “Wani Lived for 100 Days” announced that the release of the anime film has been postponed indefinitely.

The film was initially scheduled to be released on May 28. The official website also stated that while no final date has been finalized yet, the film producers are in constant touch with the authorities to find a suitable solution.

The film is based on Yuki Kikuchi’s “Wani Dies in 100 Days” and follows the story of Wani the Alligator’s life. Despite fated to pass away after 100 days, Wani does not allow sadness to take over him and decides to celebrate his journey instead.
