The battle between Mew Mews and Chimera Animas will continue in the second season of Tokyo Mew Mew New, the anime reboot of the original 2002 series. Will the Mew Mews finally discover Mew Aqua and save the world? We might get to know in this season.
On Sunday, the official website for the anime series released a new teaser video and a visual. The video reveals the release date of April 4 and also features the opening song “Megamorphose” by Smewthie.
The video starts with the three aliens looking at a blue crystal from the bottom. It then moves to the Mew Mews, who are going on with their daily lives. Ichigo and Lettuce face Pie, with Tart observing the alien containers in a room.
The entire cast will return for the second season, with the five main cast members continuing to act as the band Smewthie. All major staff members are also returning, with Graphinica and Yumeta Company acting as the production studios.
The visual above shows the five Mew Mews facing Quiche, Pie, and Tart with the blue crystal that was shown in the teaser in the middle.
The mystery of the crystal will be revealed for sure this season, and it does not look good. This could definitely turn the tables toward the alien trio’s side.
About Tokyo Mew Mew New
Tokyo Mew Mew New is a revival anime series based on the manga “Tokyo Mew Mew” written by Reiko Yoshida and illustrated by Mia Ikumi. It was originally serialized in Nakayoshi from September 2000 to February 2003.
The story revolves around Ichigo Momomiya, a high school girl who is involved in an odd incident on a date. Her DNA is merged with the DNA of an endangered wildcat. Four other girls suffer the same fate as other endangered animals.
They later find out that they have been chosen to be a part of the secret “Mew Project.” Their only goal is to defend Earth from an alien threat, which goes by the name of Deep Blue.
