A new journey waits for Bojji and Kage after the former passed the crown to his brother Daida. However, before we get to know the beginnings of their new quest, a whole new story will unfold itself next month.
Ranking of Kings will return with a special series that will feature an original story that was not present in the anime.
On Saturday, the official website for the anime series released a promotional video for the new series, titled Ōsama Ranking: Yūki no Takarabako (Ranking of Kings: Treasure Chest of Courage). It also revealed the theme song artists and the release date of April 13.
The video does not give clarity about what the new anime will be about. It does show all the characters with Daida trying to manage the kingdom and a few flashbacks of Kage. From what it looks like, this story will take place within the Bosse Kingdom.
Both theme songs play in the background. First, the opening song “GOLD” by PEOPLE 1 is played. In the second half, the ending song “Atemonaku” (Aimlessly) by Aimer is played.
The cast and staff from the previous series will return for Ōsama Ranking: Yūki no Takarabako.
Initially, it was not clear whether it will have a single episode or a set of episodes. As per the official website, the new series will air every Thursday on Fuji TV’s Noitamina block, confirming that it would not be a single episode.
WIT Studio produces the first series, with Yosuke Hatta as the director. Taku Kishimoto wrote the scripts and Atsuko Nozaki designed the characters. MAYUKO composed the music.
Bojji is a unique and inspiring protagonist who wishes to be a great king no matter what his shortcomings are. The new series would give a deeper look into his growth as a person and a future king.
About Ōsama Ranking: Yūki no Takarabako
Ōsama Ranking: Yūki no Takarabako (Ranking of Kings: Treasure Chest of Courage) is a series of special episodes based on the Japanese comedy manga series by Sōsuke Tōka. It has been serialized online via Echoes’ user-submitted Manga Hack website since May 2017.
The story centers around Bojji, a deaf, powerless prince who cannot even wield a children’s sword. As the firstborn son, he strives hard and dreams of becoming the world’s greatest king.
However, people mutter about him behind his back as “a good-for-nothing prince” and “no way he can be king.” Bojji is able to make his first-ever friend, Kage, a literal shadow on the ground who somehow understands Bojji well. The story follows Bojji’s coming-of-age as he meets various people in his life, starting with his fateful encounter with Kage.
