Ranking of Kings Season 2: Release Date, Plot, and Latest Updates

While we wait for Ranking of Kings season two to be announced, the kind people at WIT Studio are presenting us with a unique ‘side episode’ (i.e., not based on Sosuke Toka’s original manga) named Treasure Chest of Courage, which will be released in April 2023.

It’s not 100% obvious what the narrative of this special will be, but a teaser trailer published accompanying the announcement promises lots of action for Boji and Kage. We also examine the other characters joining them, including a non-terrifying Prince Ouken. Check it out below!

Ranking of Kings season 2 potential release date: When will it air?

If we’re being optimistic and season two is greenlit, we may expect to see it sometime in late 2024. If WIT Studios decides to produce a 12-episode second season instead, this might happen sooner. We can only hope for confirmation when Treasure Chest of Courage airs in April 2023.

When can we anticipate everyone’s favorite boy-king to return, assuming we get a decent second season? The most straightforward approach to estimate is to consider how long it took us to get the first batch of episodes.

The first season of Ranking of Kings covers the first 12 volumes (156 chapters) of the original manga, now designated ‘Part 1’.

The first of these volumes was released in February 2019, even though author Sosuke Toka began writing the series in 2017, and the twelfth was released in December. This suggests that Tka spent at least three years writing good content for the present adaptation.

Volume #13, the first volume of Part 2, will be released soon, keeping with the one-volume-every-four-months schedule. For those keeping track, the current chapter count for Ranking of Kings is 191.

So fans will have to wait around two and a half years until Bojji has had enough experience to warrant a second season of the anime.

Ranking of Kings season 2 plot: What will happen?

Season one of Ranking of Kings concluded with the resolution of the majority of its significant narrative strands. King Daida regained control of his body, Bojji and the fantastic four defeated Ouken and Miranjo, and King Bosse died (for good this time) – floating away exquisitely. The term “electronic commerce” refers to the sale of electronic goods.

If there is a season two, it’s still being determined where the tale will go now that the stakes have been raised. However, there may be a few hints in the last seconds of the show’s finale.

Boji abdicates the kingdom and chooses to embark on adventures with Kage (who can blame him? ), and Desha is proclaimed the new number-one-ranked King. Desha, like his brother, is dedicated to finding a method to save his sibling Ouken (who was just squashed into a ball and thrown into a lake, FYI).

Those two developments sow the seeds for more stories, and we can’t wait to learn more – least of all about the mysterious organization behind the ‘rankings.’

Outside of speculation, there’s not much to go on, but in a December interview with Anime News Network, creator Sōsuke Tōka said: “I’m a delicate-hearted person, so I love stories with happy endings. I want to make everyone happy if I can. But I can’t do that for the bad guys. The core is as simple as that.”

About Ousama Ranking

Ōsama Ranking (Ranking of Kings) is a Japanese comedy manga series by Sōsuke Tōka. It has been serialized online via Echoes’ user-submitted Manga Hack website since May 2017. An anime television series adaptation by Wit Studio premiered in October 2021.

The story centers around Bojji, a deaf, powerless prince who cannot even wield a children’s sword. As the firstborn son, he strives hard and dreams of becoming the world’s greatest king.

However, people mutter about him behind his back as “a good-for-nothing prince” and “no way he can be king.” Bojji is able to make his first-ever friend, Kage, a literal shadow on the ground who somehow understands Bojji well.

The story follows Bojji’s coming-of-age as he meets various people in his life, starting with his fateful encounter with Kage.
