Kawai seems out of her zone here. She couldn’t even spot where help was needed. For a few seconds, that critically injured baby was unattended, which is terrible even though it was already dead. Her incapability to spot civilians in need of help is concerning.

Now that it’s lost, bad guys could make use of it. Fuji thinks it is so serious that he might not remain a detective anymore. While recounting what happened that day, he begins with Saki’s calls from older ladies, asking for Minamoto.

The lieutenant finishes the unbearably long story and says Yamada couldn’t find it yesterday night after ten. All officers are sent to look for it in civilian clothes. Fuji and Kawai are sent to the old lady who asked for Minamoto.

At first, she wouldn’t speak to the girls, but Fuji tells her she looks like Fuji’s beautiful, accomplished, and estranged older sister. This melts her heart and we come to know that she turned in Yamada’s badge after she picked it up from the parking lot.

The next day we see Kawai trash-talking traffic police work saying they must hate their jobs. Later she realizes that Sergeant Miyahara of the traffic police department is standing right behind her.

They get a report saying there’s been a traffic accident involving three cars. As soon as Kawai reaches, she sees that no one is hurt, and the cause of obstruction is covered with a blanket.

Fuji rushes towards the blanket, realizing it’s a baby. The now deformed baby dies of cardio-pulmonary arrest, and now Kawai can never shake the image. Kawai realizes how important traffic price work is.
