Mirai says he’s ready to become a “creature” if it would save those who can’t go on without God. For that, he is prepared to kill Professor Yoneda. Will Mirai be able to kill him?

Episode 23 Speculations
Professor Yoneda has been testing Mirai on his principles and refuting them one by one. It does make Mirai look phony. He prioritizes the lives of the many over the few, which is messed up as it is.
Then he goes back on his words by choosing Saki over those millions of people he cared about a while ago. People saw this, and even they would not agree to such a fickle child becoming God.
The white arrow has been shot, and it’s aimed at Mirai’s heart. Yoneda has even made sure that Mirai cannot run away. Will he indeed die this time? My theory is, no, Hoshi is another party to the discussion, and he’ll jump in to save Mirai.

Episode 22 Recap
The professor explains more theories that he has about the false God. Becoming the “creature” won’t solve problems in any way since the human becoming a false God might have his mind altered. His mind might transform into the creature’s mind.
On top of that, there is this other thing a false God is characterized by, his inability to communicate with humans. If Mirai were to become God, he wouldn’t have any connection with Saki.
The professor also says that humanity would undergo extinction, not because of the sun or geographical calamity. It would happen because of technological progress and the disillusionment it would bring about.
The professor says he’d like to continue a one-on-one discussion with Mirai. Yumiki takes Nakaumi, Saki, and Temari to the safehouse Temari was once trapped in. Hoshi remains with Mirai.
Mirai then says he will become a false God to give people hope. Regarding the theory of extinction that the professor gave, Mirai will work to change the outcome if he becomes God. So, he’s ready to kill the professor as long as it saves millions of lives.
The professor gives Mirai a choice of whether he will die for Saki or watch Nakaumi kill Saki. He chooses Saki, and this shows how strong his principles of greater good are. He just abandoned the millions of lives he wanted to save for this one person.
The professor shoots the arrow, saying he’ll let Saki live and give Temari money if Mirai dies.
