One Piece: Top 8 Best Navigators of All Time, Ranked!

Every pirate crew needs to have a well-rounded group of crewmates to be successful in the unpredictable Grand Line. The navigator in the crew is responsible for many things other than just navigating the ship’s course. 

The navigator’s responsibilities include planning the voyage, advising the captain on the route, and ensuring that the ship avoids dangerous areas and weather conditions.

Today we rank 8 of the best navigators in the world of One Piece.

This list will only contain those referred to as ‘navigators’ atleast once in the story.

8. Eddy

Eddy was introduced along with the other members of the Bellamy Pirates in the Jaya arc. Being their navigator, he is seen wearing a log pose, and it is assumed he knows how to navigate the Grand Line.

Eddy would later travel with Bellamy and the other members of the crew to a Sky Island. It is unknown what became of Eddy and the rest of the Bellamy Pirates when their captain forfeited his captaincy to join the Donquixote Pirates.

7. Rasa

Rasa is the navigator of the sand pirates of the Arabasta Kingdom. She originally lived in a small oasis village in Yuba before it was abandoned after being buried in sand.

Rasa is the best sand-sled rider in the Barbar Pirates. She is also shown to be a skilled knife thrower. After her village was abandoned, Rasa was the only one who stayed behind. She was then found by Barbarossa and joined him as a member of the sand pirates.

6. Borodo

Borodo was introduced in the One Piece: Clockwork Island Adventure movie. He is the adoptive brother of Akisu and the elder of the two Thief Brothers.

Borodo is a talented navigator, able to steer a raft by manipulating its makeshift parachute sail. He was an ally of the Straw Hat Pirates and was ready to do anything to keep his adopted brother safe, even if it meant sacrificing himself.

5. Road

Road is a giant from Elbaf and the navigator of the New Giant Warrior Pirates. He and 4 other giants were S-Class mercenaries for Buggy’s Delivery, a.k.a the Pirate Dispatch Organization.

Being a giant, Road possesses immense physical power. As the New Giant Warrior Pirates’ navigator, he has knowledge of navigation and cartography. He was seen holding a map when the 5 giant pirates sailed away from Karai Bari island.

4. Laffitte

“Demon Sheriff” Laffitte is the navigator, chief of staff, and the captain of the Fifth Ship of the Blackbeard Pirates. He is known for his stealth, being skilled enough to infiltrate Mary Geoise and join the meeting for the Warlord of the Sea nomination.

As the Blackbeard Pirates’ navigator, Laffitte is considered to have significant navigational skills to navigate the dangerous islands and weather of the New World.

It is implied that he has a Devil Fruit that allows him to obtain wings and fly. This ability was displayed when the Blackbeard Pirates invaded Impel Down.

3. Bepo

Bepo is a polar bear mink and the navigator of the Heart Pirates. He is a skilled martial artist who combines his fighting skills with his physical abilities as a mink. He is also presumed to use Electro and a Sulong form, but he has not displayed either of these abilities yet.

As the navigator of his crew, Bepo is considered to have some knowledge of navigation and is capable of navigating the Heart Pirates’ Polar Tank across the Grand Line.

He is known to have some cartography skills, as he drew a messy map of Dressrosa and Green Bit. He is also the younger brother of the late Nox Pirate, Zepo.

2. Koby

Koby is a Marine Captain who is part of the Marine special forces unit SWORD. He was formerly an involuntary pirate ship caretaker for the Alvida Pirates until he was liberated by Luffy.

When he was first introduced, Koby lacked any fighting skills. Alvida kept him on her ship because he happened to be good at navigation. He gained some fighting skills training under Monkey D. Garp and has now reached the rank of Marine Captain, having mastered Rokushiki and Observation Haki.

1. Nami

“Cat Burglar” Nami is the navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates and possibly the best navigator in One Piece. She was formerly a member of the Arlong Pirates but joined the Straw Hats after they liberated Nami’s village by defeating Arlong.

From her childhood, Nami has always enjoyed reading books about navigation, geography, cartology, and meteorology. She is also talented in drawing accurate topographic maps and charting ocean currents. Her mapmaking talent was why Arlong kidnapped and used her as part of their group.

Before the time skip, she was already the best navigator and could navigate almost anywhere the Straw Hats needed to go.

After her time on Weatheria during the two-year time skip, she learned many new things about the weather in the Grand Line. This helped cover all her weaknesses in navigation, and she is now definitely the best active navigator in the series.
