Obsidian Entertainment working on a new unannounced AAA RPG

With Grounded recently being fully released and Pentiment set to release next month, it seems like Obsidian Entertainment is working on yet another unannounced AAA RPG.

A recent job listing mentioned that Obsidian Entertainment is looking for a World Builder to work on its “next major RPG”. Other information suggested that the production of the unannounced project began a year ago. This makes it clear that the RPG is in its early stages.

Obsidian Entertainment Reportedly Developing Another Unannounced AAA RPG — The Outer Worlds

Many fans raised questions as to whether the unannounced project is Avowed or The Outer Worlds 2 but this wouldn’t be the case since Josh Sawyer previously confirmed that Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 are in a playable state. It’s clear that the unannounced game is in its early development stages.

After Microsoft’s acquisition of Obsidian Entertainment, the company has been putting out quality games and has proven to be a major powerhouse in the game development industry.

The unannounced RPG might be a totally brand-new IP for the developers and most likely not a part of its established products which are Grounded and Pentiment along with Avowed. What the unannounced game actually could be is anyone’s guess.

Many fans are hoping it’s the sequel to Fallout: New Vegas, a beloved title in the Fallout franchise. The speculations aren’t a reach since Obsidian’s CEO Feargus Urquhart said that he would love to make a new Fallout game. Speaking to the Dualshockers, Feargus stated:

“If we ever got the opportunity to make another Fallout game, we’d make it. There’s not even a question of whether or not we would do it, it’s just: Will the opportunity arise?,”

“I hung around at Interplay for probably an extra year because I wanted to work on Fallout more. I love Fallout.”

While Obsidian Entertainment has confirmed that they’re not working on a new Fallout project, fans shouldn’t lose hope in the series. However, it will be a long while before a new Fallout game is in the works as Fallout 5 won’t arrive until Elder Scrolls 6 is released.
