NieR Automata Ver1.1a, the anime based on the role-playing game by Square Enix and PlatinumGames is arriving in four days. The official website has already introduced us to the characters. Now, they have also shared a preview of the first episode.
On Tuesday, the official website for NieR: Automata Ver1.1a updated its story section with a brief description of the first episode. They have also shared a few stills from the anime, featuring the protagonists 2B and 9S.
The title of Episode 1 will be “or not to[B]e”. Although it is still unclear whether it will adapt the story from the game or an original story, it would certainly introduce 2B to those who are unfamiliar with the game.
The synopsis is in the form of a report by Pod 042, who tells that aliens invaded the earth and humanity had to evacuate to the moon. Since then, the androids sent by humans are at war with the mechanical lifeforms created by aliens.
Pod 042 accompanies 2B from the YoRHa unit in the 243rd Descent Operation and reports with Pod 153, who accompanies 9S.
NieR: Automata Ver1.1a will premiere on January 8, 2023, on Tokyo MX and other networks. Crunchyroll will stream the series on the same day.
