Two New Anime to Broadcast on NHK Channels in February and March

NHK is one of the oldest television channels in Japan and has been home to some of the most popular anime of all time since the 1970s. No wonder everyone wants to be on that channel’s schedule, given its legacy.

Naturally, the channel has never had a deficiency of choices, but it suffered difficulty in choosing. The good thing is that it has never disappointed us with the shows, and the same goes for the upcoming ones.

NHK has revealed that two new anime, Heart Cocktail Colorful and Shuwawan!, will debut on NHK General and NHK Educational channels in February and March 2023.

Heart Cocktail Colorful will debut with five episodes on NHK General in late February, while Shuwawan! is slated with three episodes starting at the end of March. Shuwawan! will continue to air with four episodes and more in April or later, which will be decided soon.

Moreover, Heart Cocktail Colorful will star Kazuya Kamenashi, Tamiyoshi Okuda, and Hikari Mitsushima in the lead. As for Shuwawan!, actor Masataka Kubota will voice the anime’s protagonist.

Heart Cocktail Colorful is based on Seizou Watase’s Heart Cocktail manga written in the 1980s. It tells you various love stories set in urban environments, and the upcoming anime will follow the same concept in modern times.

The anime will feature love stories in different settings, such as two people unable to meet due to the pandemic, the love between a mother and child, and more. Each episode will be five-minutes long, thus making it a mini-anime.

Meanwhile, Shuwawan! is based on the real-life story of the photographer and essayist Harumichi Saitō. He and his wife are both deaf, and the anime will feature chronicles of their family life and how they and their hearing children communicate in sign language.

Both anime sound like two really wholesome and fulfilling anime that you might enjoy as winter ends and the spring season sets in.

About Heart Cocktail Colorful

Heart Cocktail Colorful is a TV anime series inspired by Seizou Watase’s Heart Cocktail manga written in the 1980s. Although the manga is set in an urban environment of the 80s, the anime will be based in the present day.

It will follow love stories of various kinds like two people unable to meet each other due to the pandemic, the bond between a single mother and her child, and more.

About Shuwawan!

Shuwawan! is an anime based on the real-life events of the Japanese photographer and essayist Harumichi Saitō and his family.

Both Harumichi and his wife are deaf, and the story will revolve around them and their hearing children communicating through sign language. The anime will draw on Saitō’s own work, Ikuji Manga Nikki (Child-rearing Manga Diary).
