Fans of Magic Kaito and Lupin III will be overjoyed with the formation of a new anime series featuring a phantom thief. As a light novel series, it has been there for decades. An OVA did release last year, but nothing else has been announced until now.
On Sunday, at the “Mirage Queen Prefers Parties” event, the staff announced a new animation for Mirage Queen. It will be titled Mirage Queen Vacances Élégantes (Kaito Queen no Yuuga na Vacances or “Mirage Queen’s Elegant Vacations).
Interestingly, even the original author Kaoru Hayamine was not aware of it until the actual announcement.
Mirage Queen debuted as an anime in June 2022 as an OVA Mirage Queen Prefers Circus (Kaitō Queen wa Circus ga Osuki). It was produced by East Fish Studio, with Saori Den as the director and Mariko Kunisawa writing the screenplay. Yūga Yamato voiced the titular character.
No further details about the cast and crew have been revealed. Moreover, despite being an anime, it is unclear whether it will be an anime series or an OVA. Either way, we will see the emergence of a new franchise.
About Kaitō Queen no Yūga na Vacances
Kaitō Queen no Yūga na Vacances (Mirage Queen’s Elegant Vacations) is a new animation that will adapt the second volume in the Kaitō Queen (Mirage Queen) novel series written by Kaoru Hayamine and illustrated by K2 Shōkai.
The novel began publishing in March 2002 and Kodansha has released 15 volumes of it under their Aoitori Bunko children’s imprint.The story features the Phantom Thief Queen whose age and gender are unknown and flies around in their airship looking for various treasures.
