2. Recap of Episode 7 of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes
The episode opens with Koichi struggling through a hero sociology class when Makoto offers him help, on the condition that he guides her through Naruhata for her thesis on local vigilantes. She visits his apartment to study and discuss the history of heroism and vigilantism, unknowingly setting off alarm bells for both Pop Step and Knuckleduster.
While Pop hides from Makoto out of sheer awkwardness (and jealousy), Knuckleduster warns Koichi not to let things get too personal. Makoto’s research takes them out into the city to gather public opinions on the vigilante trio. The responses are both hilarious and revealing: Pop Step is known for being “cute,” Knuckleduster comes off as “scary,” and The Crawler is repeatedly called “gross.”
Their outing is briefly interrupted when a thief steals Makoto’s laptop, prompting Koichi to give chase as The Crawler. Though his efforts fall short, two fellow vigilantes, Ichimoku and Jube, step in to help recover it.
As the episode winds down, Makoto subtly reveals her Polygraph Quirk, which detects lies through physical contact. She shakes Koichi’s hand and asks if he’s “The Cruller,” and due to the name being technically wrong, he gets away with a truthful “no.” The episode ends with Makoto starting her thesis and Koichi and Pop Step reviewing it together.
3. Speculation of Episode 8 of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes
Episode 8 could dig deeper into Makoto’s investigation, especially now that she’s brushed so close to uncovering Koichi’s secret. Her determination, combined with her Quirk, makes her a potential threat, or ally, depending on what she learns. It’s also likely that the episode will revisit the looming danger of Trigger and how it ties into her research.
With growing attention on vigilantes from both academic and legal angles, Koichi might find it harder to keep his identities separate. And with Pop’s jealousy and Knuckleduster’s warnings in play, things could get complicated fast.
