My Hero Academia to Take a Break Due to Mangaka’s Health

Working in the manga industry seems fun but is actually quite strenuous. We know that the challenging environment has often resulted in severe health issues. A prominent victim of this issue is My Hero Academia’s famed creator, Kohei Horikoshi.

As we all know, Horikoshi had to take breaks frequently due to his health and has to do it again now.

The official Twitter handle for My Hero Academia has revealed that the manga will be on a two-week break due to Horikoshi’s health. It is scheduled to return in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine’s 12th issue on February 20, 2023.

【notice】

“My Hero Academia,” scheduled to be published in Weekly Shonen Jump No. 10 (on sale February 6), will be on hiatus due to the author’s poor health.

The serialization is scheduled to resume with Weekly Shonen Jump No. 12 (on sale February 20).

Thank you.

Horikoshi had put the manga on hold many times before, with the most recent one being in December when he took a week-long break. These things will keep happening in the future, and those who have been following the manga for a long time know this well.

Fans of the manga have always prioritized the author’s health over new chapters and continue to support him in times of need.

As for the story, we have reached a revolutionary point in the plot where Shigaraki Tomura is fighting to become independent of AFO’s control. He had a part of himself hidden in the core and is now trying to bring it out and regain his freedom.

However, Deku’s still trying to reason with Shigaraki and refuses to leave the crying child inside of him alone. The thrilling battle between the two will rage on for more chapters until one of them gains the upper hand.

MHA’s plot hasn’t been this good and engaging since the Hideout Raid arc that marked the retirement of All Might from hero duties.

The current Final War arc is taking us through a similar emotional rollercoaster, and I can’t wait to see how it ends.

My Hero Academia is a Japanese superhero manga series written and illustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi. It has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since July 2014, with its chapters additionally collected in 37 tankōbon volumes as of February 2023.

It follows a quirkless boy Izuku Midoriya and how he backed the greatest Hero alive. Midoriya, a boy who has been admiring heroes and their ventures since the day he was born, came into this world without a quirk, where almost everybody is born with one.

On one fateful day, he meets All Might the greatest Hero of all time and discovers that he was quirkless as well. With his diligent attitude and unwavering spirit about being a hero, Midoriya manages to impress All Might. He is chosen to be the heir to the power of One for All.
