Meanwhile, Elinalise and Cliff have gone on an adventure together, which may not go well. Since Rudeus isn’t there to help them, they will likely run into trouble. Soldat may also be alongside them during the adventure, but he isn’t that powerful either.

Fitz starts overthinking Silent and Rudy’s relationship since they’ve spent much time together. He gets sad about losing the courage that she once had and sulks in the library. Rudeus has spent a year in the Academy and has grown a big reputation.

He’s devastated that Fitz ignored him just like that and later runs into him at the library again. Rudeus asks what happened, and Fitz says he can’t speak on duty. After seeing his smile again, Rudeus starts catching feelings.

Over the next few days, he realizes he has a crush on Fitz. Since he’s straight, Rudeus is confused about liking a guy. He talks with the Vice President, Jenius, to confirm his gender. Unluckily for him, Jenius tells him that Fitz is a man.

He goes to the library during sunset and finds Fitz again. Rudeus accidentally trips over a chair, and Fitz goes to catch him. They both fall to the ground, and in the moment, Rudeus realizes he is definitely a girl.
