March 2023 Anime Line-up: TV Series, Movies, and More!

It’s no secret that 2023 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for anime, and we’re only in March! We’ve already had some great releases in the first two months, but the upcoming releases are just as exciting.  

This month, there are some amazing anime titles to look forward to, including the highly anticipated Attack on Titan and the heartwarming slice-of-life Yomawari Neko. 

Whether you’re into TV series, movies, or anything in between, I’ve got you covered with a comprehensive list of all the anime dropping in March. Get ready to add some more titles to your ever-growing watchlist! 

TV Series

1. Attack on Titan: The Final Season (part 3, cour 1)

Studio – MAPPA

Release Date – March 4

The final season of Attack on Titan will be aired as two-hour specials instead of the usual weekly episodes. In the last season, the Survey Corps vowed to stop Eren and The Rumbling, no matter what it takes. Part 3 is going to be all about that struggle. 

The story occurs four years after Eren and the gang discover the truth about their situation. Fans will see characters from the enemy’s elite warrior unit fighting against the Survey Corps.

Both sides are fighting hard to defend their homes and beliefs. Meanwhile, Eren’s cooking up a deadly plan to take out his homeland’s enemies. 

2. Nights with a Cat (season 2) 

Studio – Studio Puyukai 

Release Date – March 8

Nights with a cat is a lighthearted slice-of-life and comedy anime that fans can’t get enough of. Fuuta’s never had a cat before, but then his little sister Pii shows up with this fluffy gray fur ball.

In the second season, we can expect more of the same cute and funny moments between Fuuta and Kyuruga. Every night is a new adventure with this adorable kitty around. 

3. Yomawari Neko 

Studio – Shogakukan Music & Digital Entertainment 

Release Date – March 14

Cat lovers adore Yomawari Neko, and the manga finally got its well-deserved anime adaptation. The manga is in eight panel format, and it tells the story of two cats who live together and face the challenges of everyday life. 

The story focuses on a cat, Heizo Endo, who patrols the streets at night, looking for people in distress. He may not be able to solve their problems, but he’s always there to lend a listening ear.

Watching Yomawari Neko might just be what you need to feel a little better. It’s a heartwarming story that’s sure to make you smile. 

4. Heart Cocktail Colorful 

Release Date – March 21

Heart Cocktail Colorful is a TV anime series that’s based on a manga from the 80s by Seizou Watase. The manga is about love stories set in the city and has 11 volumes. 

The anime will have all new love stories; this time, they’ll be set in the present day. Some stories will be about age differences, love during the pandemic, and the struggles of being a single mom.

Even though the manga was written a while ago, the anime will be totally up-to-date. Seeing how these new stories play out on the screen will be interesting. 

5. Shuwawan! 

Release Date – March

Shuwawan is a new anime series that’ll be only five minutes long per episode, and it sounds super sweet. 

The anime will depict the real-life family of a photographer and writer named Harumichi Saito. It will be based on Saito’s diary about raising his kids.

Saito and his wife are both deaf, but their kids can hear just fine. So, the family communicates using sign language, which is called “shuwa” in Japanese.  

Movies

1. Doraemon: Nobita’s Sky Utopia

Studio – Shin-Ei Animation 

Release Date – March 3

Doraemon: Nobita’s Sky Utopia is a sci-fi adventure film; it is the 42nd film of the Doraemon series.

Doraemon, Nobita, and their friends are on a mission to find a perfect land in the sky called Utopia, where everyone is happy. They’re using an airship that can warp through time as they set out on a quest to find Utopia with the help of Doraemon’s new gadget. 

2. SSSS.Dynazenon 

Studio – Studio Trigger 

Release Date – March 10

SSSS.Dynazenon is the follow-up to the 2018 anime SSSS.Gridman and part of the Gridman Universe.  

The story starts when a regular high school boy named Yomogi Asanaka runs into a guy named Gauma, who claims to be a “Kaiju User.” Gauma summons a massive robot called Dynazenon to fight back when a monster attacks the city.

Yomogi, his classmate Yume Minami, and local nerd Koyomi Yamanaka get caught up in the chaos and become Gauma’s co-pilot for the giant robot. Together, they’ve got to figure out who’s behind the Kaiju attacks and put a stop to it. 

3. Gekijoban Argonavis Axia 

Studio –  Sanzigen

Release Date – March 24

Argonavis is a multimedia project by Bushiroad. Argonavis was originally a part of the BanG Dream! Franchise, but then it became its own thing.

Some fans didn’t like the idea of male characters in the BanG Dream! World, so the creators made Argonavis its separate universe. Initially, the movie Gekijoban Argonavis Axia was set to come out in 2022 but was delayed a few times. Now the wait is finally over in March 2023.  

4. Gridman Universe 

Studio – Studio Trigger 

Release Date – March 24

The movie brings together characters from SSSS.Gridman and SSSS.Dynazenon, with Gauma leading the way.  

Gauma teams up with Yomogi, Yumume, Koyomi, and Koyomi’s cousin Chise Asukagawa to form the Anti-Monster Team Gauma Corps. But they’re up against monsters like Juuga, Onija, Mujina, and Shizmu, who believe in eugenics.

It will be a wild ride as we watch the Gauma Corps battle it out with the monsters and each other. 

5. The Klutzy Witch: Fuka and the Dark Witch

Studio – Production I.G.

Release Date – March 24

The movie “The Klutzy Witch: Fuka and the Dark Witch” is based on a book series that takes place in a super cool world full of witches and wizards.

The main character is a clumsy apprentice witch named Fuka, and she accidentally unleashes a dark witch who almost destroys the world. The story follows Fuka’s journey through magic and romance as she navigates this crazy world. 

Original Video Animation 

1. Nijiyon Animation 

Studio – Bandai Namco Filmworks 

Release Date – March 29

The Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club project staff announced that Nijiyon Animation, the short television anime of Miyakohito’s four-panel manga spinoff, will have new anime content.

The story is set in Nijigasaki High School in Odaiba, Tokyo, and focuses on the school’s popular free-school style and diverse majors. It follows the members of the school idol club in Nijigasaki, who work together as solo idols to prevent the club from being disbanded.  

As the story goes on, more girls join the club and become part of its activities. 

Original Net Animation

1. I give my virginity to Soushi Sazanami 

Studio – Studio Hokiboshi 

Release Date – March

As you may have guessed, ‘I give my virginity to Soushi Sazanami’ is a steamy romance tale. The story features a super hot yakuza and a virgin office lady with zero self-confidence. 

Nagisa is a shy office worker who meets a mysterious yakuza named Ren while on a trip. After one night together, Nagisa falls for Ren’s gentlemanly ways and decides to pursue a relationship with him.
