KONOSUBA: Sekai ni Bakuen wo! Ep 9: Release Date, Speculation, Watch Online

Zesta got released in episode 8 of KONOSUBA: Sekai ni Bakuen wo!, titled “Fanatics of the Water City.”

It was another random episode with no major plotline to follow. However, it did get better by the end of the episode, when Arnes showed up, and Megumin and Yunyun prepared to leave the city. 

Other than that, Megumin, Cecily, and Yunyun toured around the city for half of the episode without really caring about Zesta. It turns out that Zesta is a powerful wizard and not just a perverted old man.

1. Episode 9 Speculations

Megumin and Yunyun’s cart will be attacked by monsters in episode 9 of KONOSUBA: Sekai ni Bakuen wo! Titled “Destroyer from the Crimson Demon Village.”

The duo is heading for Axel because Megumin thinks that the one she is looking for is there, and Yunyun is just following her. Arnes will show up again in the next episode as well. 

Chomusuke’s plotline isn’t getting fully developed. If the cat is really Wolbach, it will be interesting to see what she will do when she returns to her true form. We might meet some new characters given that we are going to a new land.

3. Episode 8 Recap

Yunyun is worried about Zesta, but Cecily tells her not to worry. Now, they are going to vote for the next father of the church. Cecily gives Yunyun and Megumin a tour around the city.

She treats them with a strange slime beverage. Some soldiers come up to them, informing them that Zesta was found carrying tons of jelly slime mix. Megumin finds it strange that Zesta will do anything this ridiculous. 

As they return, Yunyun wonders whether he is really associated with the devil king. She also tells the two that the punishment for treason is death, meaning he won’t return if found guilty. 

Suddenly, they find Zesta released. He scolds the soldiers for making such a grave mistake. Megumin thinks that their problem hasn’t been solved yet as they still don’t know who is pouring harmful powder into the waters. 

Arnes shows up in front of them. She tries to have a conversation with Megumin, but Zesta continuously interrupts them by appreciating her body. However, he gets serious when he realizes that she is a demon. 

He uses some powerful magic to overwhelm Arnes, shocking Megumin and Yunyun in the process. Together with his followers, he forces Arnes to flee away. 

Later, Megumin tells Yunyun that she will be heading for the town of Axel. Zesta comes up and offers her the money for the fare of going to Axel as a thanks for teaching him some recruitment methods. 

Megumin and Cecily have a bath together. Since it is a small bath, Megumin offers to use explosion magic to create a bigger one. She does the same. The next morning, Yunyun and Megumin prepare to leave. 

Zesta offers his blessing to Megumin (ignoring Yunyun completely). They take their leave.

KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! is a spinoff light novel series written by Natsume Akatsuki and illustrated by Kurone Mishima. The series was launched in July 2014 and ended in June 2015. It has also inspired several manga series.

The story follows the character Megumin from the original KonoSuba series who only knows Explosion Magic. She decides to hone her only skill and become the greatest magician.
