Ri Shi confronts Kan Pishi with the accusations of espionage in chapter 764 of Kingdom.
The end of the chapter was unexpected and shocking. Kan Pishi and Ri Shi had a thorough and long conversation that went on for the entire length of the chapter. Kan Pishi knew everything about Youkai and what he did.
Ri Shi was not happy that a genius like Kan Pishi would get executed because of espionage. We also got glimpses of their flashback, where Ri Shi always came second to Kan Pishi.

I. How did Kan Pishi Die?
It was shocking how Kan Pishi died just a few moments after Ri Shi met him. Fans suspect that Youkai is behind it, but there are chances of him dying by suicide. I think it was probably a suicide as the accusations might have deeply wounded Kan Pishi.
He didn’t want the world to remember him as a traitor. That might be the case, but we shouldn’t forget that Youkai was planning to kill Kan Pishi a chapter before.
II. The Road Ahead and Han’s Retaliation
It is sad how Kan Pishi’s life came to an end. Someone so important, Qin had to send the strongest generals just to invite him, and now he is dead. I am eagerly waiting to see how this news will be received in various parts of China.
Qin will have to face major drawbacks because of this suicide. Han might even plan to let Qin face the consequences of letting a royal family member die. They might plan an attack, but we can’t say anything for sure.

4. Chapter 764 Recap
The chapter starts with a flashback of Ri Shi, where he got the highest marks again. He has the dream of becoming a bigger legalist than Xun Sensei and acquiring wealth and status.
Just then, the news of a newcomer who has scored perfect marks in the entrance exam comes up. He belongs to the royal family of Han. Everyone goes out to see Kan Pishi and is displeased by his stuttering, thinking it is a lie.
We return to the present, where Kan Pishi is telling Ri Shi that Youkai is a double agent who let Kanki die. Ri Shi is not able to believe that and yells at Kan Pishi, asking him how he knows so much about Youkai.
Kan Pishi goes on to tell how he has investigated Youkai and knows everything about him. He has made promises to seven countries about betraying Qin and acting as a double agent.
So much so that it is hard to know what country he is working alongside right now. However, they have some sure information about him being Riboku’s subordinate for a year or two.
Ri Shi is unable to process all this information. He gets angry at Kan Pishi for getting involved in espionage despite being at the top of his class and being so intelligent. Kan Pishi tells him that it was out of desperation to do something that he put his hands into the intelligence unit.
He tells Ri Shi to hurry, or Youkai will disappear. Ri Shi tells him that he always hated him because no matter how much he studied, he failed to surpass Kan Pishi.
Ri Shi regrets that someone as genius as Kan Pishi will be getting punished in Qin rather than holding a high-ranking position just because of stuttering. Kan Pishi says that thanks to his stuttering, he was able to leave his writings behind.
He goes on to say that Ri Shi was unable to surpass him because he studied very, very hard. So much so that he would urinate blood. That’s how he remained the smartest.
He thanks Ri Shi and tells him that if Qin is successful in unifying China, he will hold a very important position, so he wants Ri Shi to engrave his name in history.
Ri Shi takes his leave and heads for the king while thinking about ways to save Kan Pishi. When Sei comes to see him, they get an urgent message announcing that Kan Pishi has passed away.
