The prayers of all shoujo lovers have finally been answered with the return of Kimi Ni Todoke after 13 long years of waiting. The first to break the no-new-season curse of shoujo animes, Kimi Ni Todoke is coming back with its old, endearing characters, whom we have all loved and missed greatly.

Season 3 of ‘Kimi Ni Todoke’ has been confirmed to premiere on Netflix worldwide in August 2024. After the new season was confirmed last year, Netflix only released the cast list the previous month. The trailer and new visuals have now been released, making the anime’s return feel even more real and closer than ever.
After waiting for 13 years, it feels unreal to actually get a new season and watch all the characters come back to life. There is still no specific date for the August release, but rest assured, we will keep you updated.

3. Key Visuals of ‘Kimi Ni Todoke’ Season 3 Released
Alongside the new trailer preview, the key visual of the new season was also released. The key visual includes the main character cast of the anime series, featuring our protagonists, Kazehaya and Sawako front and center while holding hands and walking along the shore.
4. Plot of ‘Kimi Ni Todoke’ Season 3
Season 3 might begin with a recap of the previous season’s events through Kazehaya’s eyes and continue the story of Kazehaya and Sawako’s new dynamic.
Now a couple, Kazehaya and Sawako will have to fight new battles together. However, with Sawako much better at voicing her thoughts and feelings and Kaehaya determined not to let even the slightest misunderstanding ruin what they have, there is an assurance of not having to go through redundant misunderstanding tropes and feel frustrated.
That is not to say that our favorite couple won’t have to face any challenges. No matter how much you want to, some things are still too hard to put into words, maybe even embarrassing.

In the constantly fed world of anime, thirteen years is too long to retain everything about the plot, even if it’s your favorite. Unless you have rewatched it countless times because it’s your comfort anime, as I have, which makes me the best person to walk you through everything that went down in the past two seasons.
Sawako, nicknamed Sadako because of her gloomy appearance, which reminds people of the ghost, is shy and timid. She wants to befriend people but only manages to scare them away, much to her dismay. She admires Kazehaya, a bright and outgoing boy from her class, and wishes to be more like him.
Kazehaya befriends Sawako and encourages her to open up more, leading to her making friends for life. Sawako falls for Kazehaya along the way, but unbeknownst to her, Kazehaya has long since adored her after she made a lovely impression on him the first time they met.
6. ‘Kimi Ni Todoke’ Season 2 Ending
Towards the end of season 2, after painful misunderstandings and close heartbreaks, Sawako and Kazehaya clear things up. After resolving all their issues, Sawako’s heartfelt confession finally reaches Kazehaya, who also reveals his true feelings. The two of them finally get together and now navigate life as a couple.
7. Read the Manga While Waiting For ‘Kimi Ni Todoke’ Season 3
If you still haven’t given in to your curiosity and have been waiting for another season of ‘Kimi Ni Todoke’ for thirteen years, I applaud you. However, if the anime adaptation still feels far away, give in to the voices in your head and join the manga readers.
Season 2 of the anime ended around chapter 11, part of chapter 47 of the manga animated. However, the anime did not cover additional tidbits and Kazehaya’s point of view in chapters 44-46. You can continue reading the story from chapter 44 of volume 11 of the manga. However, if you would like to continue the storyline immediately after the anime ends, start by reading chapter 47 of Volume 12.

Kimi ni Todoke is a romance manga by Karuho Shiina. Two anime adaptations of Kimi ni Todoke were aired in Japan and produced by Production IG. A third season is set to premiere in 2024.
Sawako Kuronuma is a secluded high school student who finds it hard to communicate. She is often bullied due to her appearance but finds solace in Kazehaya, her school’s popular boy.
The friendship urges her to open up and make more friends in the class. Soon, love blossoms between Kuronuma and Kazehaya.
