A Dramatic Teaser for Kaiju No. 8 Confirms its 2024 Release

If you love Attack on Titan, then Kaiju No. 8 is the one you should look out for next. The story is similar to Isayama’s masterpiece and can fill the hole left in your heart after AOT’s conclusion.

A few months ago, the franchise revealed its plans to adapt this kaiju-themed fantasy as an anime, creating absolute chaos among otakus.

Given its popularity, the show has become one of the most anticipated adaptations in the industry, but we’ll have to wait for a long time for its premiere.

The latest promotional video for the Kaiju No. 8 anime has confirmed its debut in 2024 and teased the protagonist Kafka Hibino in his kaiju form.

With a sick background score that’s definitely going to our playlists, the trailer shows a gloomy world that is often destroyed by the kaiju. Amid the destruction and ruin stands Kafka in his sweeper uniform and later in his kaiju mode.

The trailer also reveals that Production I.G. is in charge of the animation production, and Studio Khara will handle the kaiju designs and artwork.

In addition, the franchise has also revealed a poster or key visual for the anime featuring Kafka’s kaiju.

The reason I call this story similar to Attack on Titan is because Eren and Kafka’s backstories are much alike (except for destroying the world part, of course)

Kafka is a 32-year-old man unsatisfied with his job as a cleaner of all the destruction created due to fights between kaiju and the Japanese Defense Force. The reason for it stems from the fact that Kafka aspired to join the elite defense corps as a kid but couldn’t pass the exam, leading him to become a sweeper.

One fateful day, Kafka’s body is infected with a parasitic kaiju which turns him into one and gives him superhuman abilities. With such great power in his hand, Kafka again decides to try out the Defence Force and fight kaiju to fulfill his childhood dream.

Considering that the anime will be out after more than a year, there’s a lot of time left before we get the cast and staff info.

There’s no guarantee whether we’ll be getting more promotional media either, so the only option we’re left with is to read the manga.

About Kaiju No.8

Kaiju No. 8 or Monster #8 is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto. It has been serialized for free on Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ from July 2020.

In Japan, creatures are known as kaiju frequently attack the nation with the Japanese Defense Force in charge of dealing with and killing them.

Childhood friends Kafka Hibino and Mina Ashiro vow to become members of the Defense Force after a kaiju destroys their home. Mina becomes a famous commander of the Force while Kafka fails the exam multiple times and becomes a monster sweeper, those in charge of cleaning up a monster’s dead body.

One day a small talking kaiju enters his body through his mouth and he can now turn into a Kaiju himself. This is dubbed “Kaiju No. 8” by the Defense Force.
