The Bear Season 4 Latest News: Has Season 4 Been Greenlit?

The highly acclaimed Hulu series “The Bear” is filming its third season. But that’s not the only exciting news for fans of the show. Ahead of season 3, reports indicate that the makers have already received extremely positive and unexpected updates about renewing the show for a fourth season.

Premiered on Hulu in 2022, “The Bear” is an Emmy-winning series that follows Carmy Berzatto, a fine-dining chef who returns to his hometown of Chicago after the tragic death of his brother. He then takes over his brother’s Italian beef sandwich shop and completely renovates the restaurant in season 2.

1. Is The Bear Season 4 Happening?

The Bear season 4 has reportedly already been renewed and will film back-to-back with season 3.

The FX network has not commented on the situation. Still, multiple reliable sources have confirmed that the show is now filming additional episodes beyond its scheduled third-season order in the Chicago area.

This approach is not unprecedented for an FX series, as the popular show Atlanta also filmed its third and fourth seasons simultaneously in a comparable manner.

2. Why Bear Seasons 3 and 4 are being filmed back-to-back?

The Bear seasons 3 and 4, reportedly filming back-to-back, have sparked speculation that season 4 will be the show’s final chapter.

No decision about a fifth season of “The Bear” has been made yet, but it’s still a possibility. The Bear seasons 3 and 4 could be filmed back-to-back to accommodate the cast’s increasingly busy schedules.

The cast, including Emmy winners Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, have been getting more film opportunities.

For example, Moss-Bachrach was cast as Ben Grimm/The Thing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Fantastic Four.”

`The show’s creator, Christopher Storer, is also working on other projects, such as writing and directing a film adaptation of the novel The Lincoln Highway.’

Given the success of “The Bear,” Storer likely has the freedom to continue or end the show as he sees fit. Ending after four seasons could be the sweet spot, similar to HBO’s “Succession.”

3. What happened in Season 2 of “The Bear”?

After season one ended with Carmy Berzatto (White) shutting down The Beef, the restaurant he had inherited from his late brother, he prepared to reopen it as The Bear.

Much of season two focused on Carmy and his staff’s often hectic efforts to remodel and relaunch the restaurant before its grand reopening date. The staff went their separate ways to sharpen their skills, attending culinary school, shadowing at high-end restaurants, and even traveling abroad to learn from experienced chefs.

Meanwhile, Carmy also begins a romance with his childhood friend Claire (Molly Gordon), but it falls apart as the restaurant’s reopening consumes more of his time.

The season also featured a flashback to a chaotic Christmas at the Berzatto household in the Christmas episode “Fishes,” which included Jamie Lee Curtis’s acclaimed performance as the alcoholic Berzatto matriarch.

Ultimately, The Bear’s grand reopening was a success, despite Carmy spending much of the evening locked inside a walk-in refrigerator.
