Boogiepop is a light novel series by Kouhei Kadono. There are twenty-three light novels released in Japan.

Six of these are available in English digitally. 1-3 are included in the omnibus volume 1 and novels 4-6 in the second volume.

Boogiepop Phantom anime series was first released in 2000, animated by Madhouse and based on the Boogiepop light novel series by Kouhei Kadono. The series is directed by Takashi Watanabe.

A supernatural entity known as Boogiepop is a Shinigami who is famous for murdering people when they physically reach their most beautiful selves.

However, this is not its true nature, and only a selected few know about it.

Actually, Boogiepop is a guardian who awakens for certain periods and manifests as the alter ego of a high schooler, Touka Miyashita, to fight the enemies of our world.

When the mysterious disappearances of students are covered as runaway cases, the Boogiepop awakens again. However, the true enemies this time are far more malicious and mysterious, lurking in the academy itself.
