Skins and cosmetics have become an integral part of all competitive FPS games in today’s time, and the same is true for the recently launched Overwatch 2 by Blizzard Entertainment as well.
Apart from the typical cosmetics that you can buy from the in-game store, Overwatch 2 also features a golden skin for every hero’s gun that cannot be purchased from the game store using real money or unlocked via the Battle Pass.
The golden guns are the most visually appealing weapon skins the game has to offer, and consequently, getting your hands on one of them is extremely challenging.
The golden guns can only be purchased using 3,000 Competitive Points in Overwatch 2. Players receive 15 competitive points for every win and 5 for every draw in Competitive Play game mode.
Additionally, players are awarded a fixed amount of Competitive Points based on their rank at the end of a season in the following manner.
- Grandmaster: 1,750 CP
- Master: 1,200 CP
- Diamond: 750 CP
- Platinum: 500 CP
- Gold: 250 CP
- Silver: 125 CP
- Bronze: 65 CP
Unlocking the Golden Weapons in Overwatch 2
Once you have collected 3,000 competitive points, follow the steps below to purchase the golden weapon:
- Head to the main menu and select the Heroes tab.
- From the gallery of all the Heroes, choose the one you want to equip with a Golden Gun.
- Scroll down to the Weapons tab at the bottom of the list of customization options.
- Select Golden, and confirm the purchase to unlock the variant.
And just like that, now you have a shiny golden weapon to flex on all your teammates.
How to unlock the competitive play game mode in Overwatch 2?
The Competitive Play game mode can be unlocked by winning 50 games in Quick Play mode in Overwatch 2.
Interestingly, Players with Level 25 or above in the original Overwatch can bypass this step and get immediate access to Competitive Play in the sequel.
Once you complete this step, you are all ready for your grind to collect 3,000 Competitive Points and acquire the desired golden weapon.
