Vermilio reveals her powers in episode 4 of Helck titled “Shock.”

While the competitors fight against the Winged Knights, Helck walks up to the captain and calls him by name. Edil takes off his helmet and catches up with Helck revealing the reason behind the sudden growth in humanity’s strength.

Vermilio realizes that she has to exterminate this threat before it grows stronger and launches a barrage of fireballs to kill the Knights. However, Helck stops them from killing Edil and gets in the way.

2. Episode 5 Speculation

Helck and Vermilio have gone through the portal and reached a mysterious new area. As they mentioned earlier, this dimension is likely the realm of Humans, so it will be familiar to Helck. Since he stopped Hyura from killing Edil, his motives are suspicious.

She is alone with Helck on this beach and will probably attack him immediately on sight, although he is significantly stronger. He will likely try and convince her that he’s on the side of the demons and explain his actions on the battlefield. They have more significant problems to face now and need to return to the Demon Realm quickly.

3. Recap of Episode 4

The captain of the Winged Knights pins down Hyura and calmly puts a blade to her neck. Helck walks up to the Knight and tells them to stop, calling by his name, Edil. He removes his helmet, and Helck talks to him like an old friend.

A specific batch of humans have grown stronger through experiments and were awakened as heroes. Helck had also gone through the same power awakening years ago, and now the other humans have also figured out the secret.

Hyura launches a surprise attack from behind while Edil is distracted and cuts off his wings. Vermilio uses Summoning Magic and launches a barrage of fireballs to eradicate the Winged Knights before they can hone their awakening and become an actual threat.

Before Hyura lands the final blow, Helck gets in the way and blocks her sword. One of the backup flying troops kills Edil instead, and the floor opens from below, revealing a spatial transportation gate. The gate begins sucking everything around it, but Dorsche creates a defensive barrier.

The barrier will only last a short while since the gate is powerful, and Vermilio plans to destroy it before the barrier lets up. A piece of debris hits her from the back, and she starts getting sucked into the gate, but Helck manages to grab her hand.

The two of them get sucked into the teleportation gate while the rest of the competitors are stranded outside. Vermilio wakes up after some time on a beautiful beach, lying down on Helck’s cape.

Helck is a manga series written and illustrated by Nanaki Nanao. It was serialized online on Shogakukan’s Ura Sunday Website and MangaONE app from May 2014 to December 2017. It has been collected into 12 volumes.

A short spin-off manga titled Piwi: Fushigi na Ikimono was also released in 2018, with its chapters collected in one volume. Another prequel manga series, titled Völundio: Divergent Sword Saga is currently ongoing since its launch in August 2020.
