Haikyuu will be released on Netflix

Haikyuu!! has been a fan favourite anime since its debut in 2014. With season four in the works, the release is set for January 2020. To boost the popularity of this sports genre anime, Netflix planned to make it more accessible for Otakus.

Netflix decided to drop a clue for fans about the anime’s comeback. The streaming service struck a deal to stream Haikyuu for its fans and planned to make it available starting October 1. The show has gone live on Netflix internationally, but there is no word on the anime being added to the site’s North American list. Fans hopes are high for the North American release. The show has been a big sensation in the region, as one of the hottest sports titles out there. With the debut of season four coming in just a few months, Netflix’s initiative will be a big help for fans who want to catch up on the entire show before January.

Other streaming services that have Haikyuu on their showcase include Crunchyroll, Hulu, Amazon Prime and iTunes. It is expected that the episodes of the next season will be simulcast through these services, however, no official word has gone out.

Haikyuu Plot

Inspired after watching a volleyball ace nicknamed “Little Giant” in action, small-statured Shouyou Hinata revives the volleyball club at his middle school. The newly-formed team even makes it to a tournament; however, their first match turns out to be their last when they are brutally squashed by the “King of the Court” Tobio Kageyama. Hinata vows to surpass Kageyama, and so after graduating from middle school, he joins Karasuno High School’s volleyball team—only to find that his sworn rival, Kageyama, is now his teammate.

Thanks to his short height, Hinata struggles to find his role on the team, even with his superior jumping power. Surprisingly, Kageyama has his own problems that only Hinata can help with, and learning to work together appears to be the only way for the team to be successful. Based on Haruichi Furudate’s popular shonen manga of the same name, Haikyuu!! is an exhilarating and emotional sports comedy following two determined athletes as they attempt to patch a heated rivalry in order to make their high school volleyball team the best in Japan.
