Gyoko no Nikuko-san Anime Film Reveals Cast Members; Hiro Shimono Voices a Talking Lizard?!

Gyoko no Nikuko-san is a calming anime film about a mother-daughter duo who are figuring out life together. Nikuko falls in love too quickly. However, with her daughter, Kikuko, she can go through every juncture in her life by her side.

Nikuko-san is a single parent who works at a yakiniku shop and owns a boat. She loves to eat far more than she loves to cook. Her daughter, Kikuko, spins fanciful tales about the people in the small fishing town.

Studio 4°C’s anime film, Gyoko no Nikuko-san, will premiere in Japan on 11th June. The main cast members of the film have been revealed!

Hiro Shimono is the cast of a lizard and a gecko with an “ikemen voice” to voice the thoughts of Kikuko and Nikuko. The staff members have been previously revealed.

Kikuko and Nikuko will be navigating through life together. While Kikuko is a daydreamer who loves to imagine all kinds of things, Nikuko tries to live life as cheerfully as possible.

The light novel that inspired the film beautifully describes Nikuko and her daughter’s everyday life, and I cannot wait to see how the anime film adapts the story.

About Gyokō no Nikuko-chan

Gyokō no Nikuko-chan is a Japanese novel written by Kanako Nishi and published by Gentosha in April 2014. An anime film adaptation by Studio 4°C will premiere in Japan on June 11, 2021.

The story of Gyoko no Nikuko-chan is about a mother and daughter who live on a boat, and follows them as they grow and set out on their paths through life.

Ayumu Watanabe (Children of the Sea) is directing the adaptation, with Satomi Ooshima on the script and Kenichi Konishi handling character designs and chief animation direction.
