This is the first Gundam film since 1988’s Char’s Counterattack film to hit the 1 billion yen mark. It is also on its way to beat the 1982’s Mobile Suit Gundam III: Encounters in Space’s record for the highest grossing Gundam film with 2.3 billion yen in revenue.

The story revolves around Hathaway Noa, the son of an officer of the Earth Federation Forces. He leads a rebellion against the corrupt Earth Federation government who has accelerated Earth’s pollution, and started to forcibly exile citizens to outer space.

He carries out severe acts of terrorism and several assassinations of high-ranking officials but is forced to question his ways when he meets an officer of the Federation forces.
