Golden Kamuy Season 4 Episode 8 “Brown Bear Man” – Ending Explained!

The episode started with an insanely bizarre floating bear explosion, and that was just the tip of the iceberg. The anime totally tricked us with Heita’s situation, dropping hints here and there that things aren’t what they seem.

Season 4 Episode 8 had everything I love about Golden Kamuy. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, a freaking murderous lunatic got introduced. After all the craziness was over, the episode wrapped up with a serious and sad vibe.

And, of course, Yoshitake was all bummed out about missing out on that gold. We also got a quick history lesson and learned more about Ainu culture, which is always fascinating.

The trio-Sugimoto, Yoshitake, and Asirpa, are back in Hokkaido, ready to do some serious gold hunting. They hear rumors about some dude striking gold at the Uryu River, so they head over there.

We meet the star of the episode, Heita. And that’s where things take a strange turn. While they’re freezing their butts off, searching for gold in that icy river, Heita tells them about platinum.

He starts talking about this wenkamuy creature that’s been haunting the river for ages. Then we see him up in a tree, spying on Noriko and Taka, who are sharing an intimate moment, and he’s swirling his tongue in the air. Gross!

We find out that Noriko, Taka, and the bear were all just figments of Heita’s messed-up imagination. This guy had some serious hallucinations going on!

In the end, Heita ends up taking his own life while fighting Sugimoto, thinking he’s trapped and he has killed the wenkamuy. It’s a sad conclusion to his story. We also get a glimpse into his history and how he obtained the bear pelt.
