2. Episode 19 Speculation
The first test has started, and Kanne has observed something that could prove to be helpful. Frieren has realized that catching a Stille might be easier than they thought. Despite all their petty quarrel, Kanne and Lawine work really well together, so the trio should be successful.
Meanwhile, Fern is in the same group as Ubel, who seems dangerous. Ubel has previously failed the second-level mage exams because she killed a first-class mage. It seems she does not care about consequences, which might prove to be trouble for Fern.

The party can see Auberst now and decides to hitch a ride to get there. Frieren needs the first-class mage certificate if they want to travel in the Northern Plateaus, but she is not that interested.
A mage named Ubel is also headed for the certification exams, and Kraft runs into her. He drives away bandits who are bothering Ubel. However, he was actually saving the bandits, as Ubel killed a bunch of them before.
A fifth-class mage certificate is required to be eligible for the exam, but Frieren is uncertified. However, her holy emblem gets her a pass. She is surprised someone recognized it, as even her previous party did not know what it was.
Freiren goes to the library to research the exam and prepare for it. They spend the next two months training, and finally, the exams begin. They are given bracelets and split into teams accordingly. Fern ends up with Ubel while both of Frieren’s teammates are fighting.
Lawine and Kanne introduce themselves as third-class mages and childhood friends. The first test is to catch a Stille bird and ensure all the members are present when the test ends.
The trio decides to take a break, but Lawine scouts the area. She returns when she finds a Stille, and they choose to observe it. They could not catch the Stille, but Frieren realized that the childhood friends have great teamwork despite fighting a lot.
After observing Stille for a whole day, they decide to sleep. However, Kanne wakes up to the sound of rain and realizes that Frieren is missing. It’s not raining despite the sound, and Kanne is caught off guard when a monster attacks her. She calls Lawine for help, but Frieren saves her in time.
Frieren finds out about Kanne and Lawine’s past and realizes that they don’t actually hate each other.
