A trailer has been released for the “Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time” anime film. A new visual for the upcoming film is also revealed. The film will premiere in theatres in Japan on 23rd January 2021.

The trailer is aesthetically pleasing, as is expected of the Evangelion Franchise. Shinji is deployed for a final mission that will determine the Earth’s fate.

Glimpses from the battles between Evas and Angels are also seen in the trailer. Another queer aspect is that an Eva is seen fighting another Eva.

Hikaru Utada has performed the theme song of the movie, “My Last Kiss”. The song has a slow and soothing pace, yet it strangely adapts to the action-oriented anime and its trailer.

A new visual has also been revealed for the upcoming anime film.

The film was originally scheduled for premiere in June 2020 in Japan. However, the Coronavirus pandemic led to a delay in its release. The final film is being released after eight years of “Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo”, the previous film of the franchise.

The Final Evangelion is a part of a tetralogy. The first three parts: Evangelion 1.0, 2.0 & 3.0 were released in 2007,2009 and 2012 respectively.

This series revolves around Shinji Ikari, who was recruited by his father to battle giant monsters (called Angels) in enormous mecha suits (called Evangelion).

Shinji has a hard time bearing this responsibility, and his inner conflict about these events leads to introspective episodes covering a range of religious and existential questions.

The final movie of the Evangelion Tetralogy is set to premiere on January 23, 2021.
