Emmy-sweeping Schitt’s Creek Season 6 Coming to Netflix Oct 7

Can’t wait to watch the final season of the Emmy sweeper Schitt’s Creek – the season that actually did all the sweeping?

Well, save the date October 7 because that’s when the sixth and final season of the recently-historic comedy series airing on Netflix in Canada and US.

In an apt announcement, Netflix took to Twitter. Check it out here –

The Canadian sitcom had until now called home the ViacomCBS property Pop TV in the U.S. Pop TV’s deal with Netflix brought “Schitt’s Creek” to new fans over the course of its later seasons.

It was the second-most-watched show acquired by Netflix in March this year. The sixth season of the show will stream on Netflix starting October 7.

The sixth season of “Schitt’s Creek” ended on Pop TV in April of this year. Creator Daniel Levy stars in the show alongside Canadian comedy legends Eugene Levy who is also his real-life father and Catherine O’Hara.

Together with Annie Murphy, the quad complete the once filthy-rich Rose family who are now forced to live in a small-town motel after losing everything they own — except their designer clothes, of course.

The only remaining asset they have is an ugly small town named Schitt’s Creek where they will now have to live. The show surprised everyone with its slow and steady rise in the TV-dom.

Instead of steadily shrinking over time, the Canadian-produced comedy from co-creators/stars Eugene and Dan Levy has actually gotten bigger with age.

After being shut out of the Emmys for its first four seasons, the show broke through last year with its first nominations — four in all, including one for best comedy — though it didn’t win any.

Then came the sixth season which set the record of winning the highest number of comedy Emmys in a single year– 9 in all. The historic season was also, unfortunately, the finale season.

Even though the show’s ratings grew with each season, but Daniel Levy said Season 6 felt like the right time to bring it to an end, despite the widespread success.

Seasons 1-5 of the show are also currently available to watch on CW Seed. Season 6 will be available on the free, ad-supported service beginning October 7.
