Episode 8 of ‘Dr. Stone New World Cour 2’ is titled “Flicker of Doom.” In this episode, Ibara recovers the Medusa from Yo and initiates his ultimate plan.
Although Yo catches the device, he has no idea how to use it. Ibara commands Medusa to petrify Yo and then takes it from his hands. To petrify the island without Kirisame, Ibara puts it in Oarashi’s stomach and tells him to run.
The Kingdom of Science catches on to their plan and chases Oarashi. However, Medusa is already in his stomach, and time is running out. Senku desperately tries to think of a plan, and Chrome helps him.

2. Episode 8 Speculation
Only Ibara and Senku remain on the island for the final battle for Medusa. Senku’s first trap with the megaphone did not work since it was too far. Moreover, we still don’t know how Senku escaped the massive petrification beam.
Chrome had told Senku that the beam grows at a uniform speed. When Ibara walked along the road, he found Chrome and the others in a straight line with their arms up. This was to help Senku calculate the speed and time of his revival fluid.
3. Recap of Episode 7
Yo grabs the Medusa as it falls from Ibara’s hand into the sea. Hyoga has recovered from the earlier strike and had started sparring with Moz again. Yo swims over to them and shouts, “Petrification Beam!” but nothing happens. Hyoga realizes he can’t win this fight solo and escapes to the island.
Hyoga had noticed Senku’s escape to the forest and knew Senku was not the type to flee. Hyoga’s specialty lies in the kudayari that spins the spear while striking. Senku knows this and is already in the bamboo forest putting together the kudayari of Owari Kanryu-style.
As Hyoga runs past Senku and the group, Magma throws the kudayari, and Hyoga catches it with his spear. Moz can barely see Hyoga’s attacks as the spear now spins incredibly fast. After years of diligent practice, Hyoga has mastered the martial art. After multiple cuts, Moz falls to Hyoga’s spear.
While Yo tries to figure out how to use the spear, Ibara drops into the sea. Right as Ibara passes by Yo, he commands Medusa to petrify him. Yo turns to stone, and Ibara grabs the Medusa as it falls into the sea. Ibara commands Medusa to petrify a 2km radius in fifteen minutes. Ibara then gives the device to Oarashi, who sprints to the island’s center.
The Science Kingdom quickly catches on and chases after Oarashi, but he’s faster than all of them. Chrome tells Senku that the beam always grows at a uniform speed, which gives Senku an idea. After Oarashi reaches the island’s center, the beam expands from his stomach.
The beam expands around the island, petrifying everybody and leaving only Ibara laughing. As Ibara walks along the road to the center, he sees Chrome, Ryusui, Gen, and the others in a straight line with a hand up. After Ibara breaks Oarashi’s stone body and takes Medusa back, he notices footprints.
Ibara runs along the path to the footsteps and finds the lab car. As Ibara peeks through the door, he finds a megaphone. The speaker says, “Five meters, one second,” and Ibara throws the Medusa back in fear. However, nothing happens. Senku walks out with the phone on his back and greets Ibara.
