Does Chad Die In Bleach?

No one. No one in “Bleach” is as hot and steamy as Yasutora Sado, otherwise known as Chad by Ichigo and his friends! Chad is the hottie you will likely meet if you’re in a blind date.

So, if there are any ladies out there reading this, what are you waiting for? Watch or rewatch “Bleach” just for Chad — the hottest character to have set foot in the anime world!

Other than being a “tall, dark, and handsome” man, there’s more to Chad than meets the eye! In fact, many diehard Chad fans became shock when the title dropped for Episode 159: “Yasutora Sado dies! Orihime’s Tears”.

This title alone is a cause of worry. 😟 Fans have loved Chad since his debut on Episode 2 of the anime. So, to ease viewers’ anxiety, let me clarify the issues of Chad’s whereabouts and whether he died in the anime.

Disclaimer: I will be discussing plot points from the anime about Chad. So, if you haven’t watched the anime nor read the manga, please read carefully.

1. Does Chad die in Bleach?

No. Chad did not die in the anime. He’s alive and well by the epilogue of the series. In fact, he became a World Heavyweight professional boxer in the World Boxing Organization (WBO).

If you wish to read about it, read or re-read Chapter 686 of the manga as this chapter hasn’t been adapted yet into an anime.

In the meantime, the title of Episode 159 worked like magic! It attracted long-time viewers to many climactic points in Part 1 of The Hueco Mundo arc (also known as Invasion of Hueco Mundo).

Not only that, but it also cliff-hanged anime-only Chad fanatics into thinking whether Tite Kubo is killing one of his main characters!

So, if you belong to Chad’s large fanbase, you’ll be glad to know that he shined yet again in another arc, which I will be discussing in detail below. So, stick around to know what happens to him! 😁

2. How did Chad survive?

Chad was only unconscious for a brief period in Episode 159. This happened because of the epic fight that occurred in Episode 158, where Chad fought Gantenbainne in a head to toe battle!

Episode 158 was titled in such a way so that it highlighted Chad’s formidable strengths: “Right Arm of the Giant, Left Arm of the Devil”

  • Right Arm of the Giant (“Brazo Derecho del Gigante”) – Chad believes that his right arm possessed the power of a Hollow (hence, why it’s been utilizing tactical defensive strategies such as “El Directo”, otherwise known as “The Direct”!) After all, he claimed that it houses the soul of his deceased grandfather (Oscar Joaquin’s de la Rosa).

Before he died, Oscar gave Chad a golden Mexican coin. This coin served as a memento to remind Chad to use his powers to protect, and not hurt, people.

  • Left Arm of the Devil (“Brazo Izquierda del Diablo”) – On Episode 158, Chad immobilized Gantenbainne using his left arm’s amplified strength. But the core power of his left arm is the spiritual blast called “La Muerte” (The Death) coming out from Chad’s fingertips!

These two fighting aspects heightened Chad’s battle prowess; hence, why he was only knocked out momentarily during his fierce fight with Gantenbainne.

3. A full-fledged Fullbringer

Chad’s powers on his right and left arm makes him a “Fullbringer”, the terminology in the anime that is equivalent to one’s nationality.

Belonging to this group allows Chad telekinetic abilities (otherwise known as Fullbring skills in the anime).

What’s unique in Bleach is that the objects the Fullbringer manipulates have “souls”. This also means that Chad can spiritually sense the Reiryoku (the spiritual power of the user) of his fellow Fullbringers, Shinigamis, and Hollows.

Tite Kubo not only designed Chad to possess half-Mexican and half-Japanese heritage. He also allowed this very interesting character to have his own group outside of Ichigo’s circle!

This group is called the Xcution headquarters, a secret faction filled with Fullbringers doing different jobs in the Human World.

Long-time fans of course know how Chad’s association with the Xcution members went. 😞 They were only using Chad for their own selfish plans to annihilate the Soul Society.

But Chad pulls through along with his friends in the Thousand-Year Blood War arc, which will soon be animated! 😁

4. Conclusion

So, that’s my take on Chad. What about you? 😀 What do you like best about his character arc? As for me, I can never forget how he wore his headphones upside-down! No one will sport headphones like Chad! 😁

5. About Bleach

Bleach is a Japanese anime television series based on Tite Kubo’s manga of the same name. The 2004 – 2012 anime series adapts Kubo’s manga but also introduces some new, original, self-contained story arcs.

The story features Ichigo Kurosaki, a 15-year-old high school student living in Karakura Town. He became a substitute Soul Reaper when Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper, puts Soul Reaper powers in Ichigo!

In the first few episodes, the duo barely managed to purify or kill a Hollow.

Although initially reluctant to accept the heavy responsibility, he begins eliminating some more Hollows.

He soon discovers that several of his friends and classmates are “spiritually aware” (or “spiritually awakened”) and have powers of their own!
