Demon Slayer Confirms Swordsmith Village Arc for Season 3 with New Trailer

One of the most popular dark fantasy anime series “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” is getting a season 3. The big announcement came just moments after the anime aired its emotional finale for season 2.

Seeing how season 2 was a blast with some of the best fight scenes and a little bit of comedy, season 3 seems all the more promising.

With the defeat of Upper Moon Six, the fight between demons and demon slayers is reaching a turning point. Tanjiro needs to get stronger to protect the ones he cherished without getting knocked out which we might get to see in the upcoming season.

1. Release Date

Demon Slayer season 3: Swordsmith Village Arc has been confirmed by Ufotable and might be released by the early fall or late summer of 2023.

Both Funimation and Crunchyroll streamed the previous seasons of the anime and are likely to stream the upcoming season as well.

Season 3 will probably have a maximum of 26 episodes like the previous seasons.

Kimetsu no Yaiba” Swordsmith Village arc has been decided to be made into TV animation, and the teaser visual has been released.

The franchise has not yet given out a specific date of release. Yet, giventhe fact that Ufotable announced the third season early and the manga is already completed, gives hope for an early release.

2. Key Visual

A new key visual has been released for the upcoming season, which gives us a glimpse into the next arc that will be adapted in the anime.

The visual portrays two Hashiras – Mitsuri Kanroji (the Love Hashira) and Muichiro Tokito (the Mist Hashira). Both of them are master swordsmen who will lead us to the Swordsmith Village arc.

3. Trailer/Teaser

A trailer was also released for the upcoming Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc.

The trailer began with the action sequences from the Mugen Train Arc and the Entertainment District Arc. We had a glimpse of the swordsmith village and Hoganezuka, one of the main blacksmiths in the village.

Tanjiro’s new Nichirin blade was also revealed, as the previous one had broken during the fight with Gyutaro and Daki.

The new characters for the upcoming season, The Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and The Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji  were also introduced in the trailer.

4. Plot/Storyline

Season 3 begins with Hotaru adamant to not fix Tanjiro’s sword anymore, forcing him to visit the Swordsmith Village. As Tanjiro waits for his sword to be repaired he’ll meet the Love Hashira and the Mist Hashira.

While Tanjiro is training, he will come across a mysterious 300-year-old sword, which is supposed to bring him happiness and peace. Yet, the peace will not last long for the demon slayer and the residents of the Swordsmith Village, as dark forces prepare a terrible foray.

After a few days of Tanjiro’s arrival, the village will be attacked by the Upper-Rank Five, Gyokko, and the Upper-Rank Four, Hantengu. The two Hashiras and Tanjiro’s party now has to fight against powerful foes to save the village.

5. New Characters

I. Muichiro Tokito

Muichiro Tokito is the current Mist Hashira who is also the descendant of Upper-Rank One, Kokushibo. He became a Hashira only two months after picking up a sword besides Gyomei Himejima.

He will be one of the main characters in the upcoming season along with the Love Hashira.

II. Mitsuri Kanroji

Mitsuri Kanroji is the current Love Hashira who derived her Love Breathing from Kyojuro’s Flame Breathing.

She is one of the most powerful and skilled swordswomen in the entire organization whose skills will be displayed in the third season.

III. Genya Shinazugawa

Genya Shinazugawa is a Demon Slayer in the Demon Slayer Corps and also the younger brother of the Wind Hashira, Sanemi Shinazugawa.

He is one of the few characters in the series who does not primarily use a sword and is the only Demon Slayer who cannot use any of the Breathing Styles.

IV. Gyokko

Gyokko is one of the antagonists in the Swordsmith Village Arc of Demon Slayer. He is a demon affiliated with the Twelve Kizuki, holding the position of Upper-Rank Five.

He is one of the only Upper Ranks (the other being Nakime) who does not have a back story mentioned in the manga regarding his past or his first meeting with Muzan.

V. Hantengu

Hantengu along with Gyokko, are the antagonists of Demon Slayer season three. He is a demon affiliated with the Twelve Kizuki, holding the position of Upper-Rank Four.

VI. Tecchin Tecchikawahara

Tecchin Tecchikawahara is the chief of the Swordsmith Village. He was the one who designed and created Shinobu Kocho’s, Nichirin Sword.

VII. Kotetsu

Kotetsu is a young villager from the Swordsmith Village. His ancestors built the battle doll Yoriichi Type Zero.

8. About Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotoge. Its publication in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump began in February 2016 and ended in May 2020 with 23 collected tankōbon volumes.

In a world filled with demons and demon slayers, Kimetsu no Yaiba follows the lives of two siblings Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado after— the murder of their family at the hands of a demon. Their hardship does not end there, as Nezuko’s life is spared only for her to live as a demon.

As the oldest sibling, Tanjiro vows to protect and cure his sister. The story traces the bond of this brother-sister or better yet, demon slayer and demon combo against the odds of an arch antagonist and the society.
