Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba Volume 18 Breaks Shonen Jump Record

Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) has had a big year, its anime debuted in April, and the manga outsold One Piece by 200,000 copies. The series is the best selling manga of 2019 and looks like it’s still growing!

@iceemperor_mh tweeted out that Kimetsu No Yaiba’s 18 volume, which was released recently, has sold over 1 million copies from its first print. The series is the 3rd series from Shonen Jump in this decade to achieve this benchmark.

Along with the digital release of the manga, the series has approximately sold over 25 million copies in total, which is a considerable feat. However, there’s a long way to go before it can beat One Piece’s 456 million+ sales record.

The series has been around since 2016 but gained a massive spike in popularity with its animated adaptation that debuted in April 2019. The series has grown exponentially this year and looks like it’s going to stick around for a long time!

About Demon Slayer

Created initially by Koyoharu Gotoge, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba first debuted in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2016. It is a story revolving around the life of Tanjiro Kamado, whose family was slaughtered ruthlessly by Demons. Sworn to take revenge and to get his sister, who is turning into a demon, cured, Tanjiro sets out the demon-riddled world to help others befalling the same fate he had just been through.
