Demon Slayer Chapter 205: The Final Chapter, Manga Ends Next Week

Demon Slayer, created by Koyoharu Gotoge, made its debut in February 2016. The series became wildly popular around 2019, and in that year, the manga outsold One Piece.

It claimed the ‘best-selling manga of 2019’ title. In February 2019, it was also announced that the manga is in its final arc — the Final Battle arc (comprised of the Dimensional Infinity Fortress Arc and the Sunrise Countdown Arc).

Now that Muzan has been defeated after his millennia-long reign, the manga is coming to an end in the 24th issue of the Weekly Shonen Jump. The final chapter, chapter 205, will release on 17/18th May and will feature 24 pages + color.

This information is mainly sourced from the raw scans for chapter 204 (https://www.epicdope.com/demon-slayer-chapter-204-release-date-raw-scans-read-online/) released yesterday. The final panel carried the announcement regarding the manga’s end.

The raw scans show a small time-skip to the final meeting of the pillars of Demon Slayer corp. All demons have been eradicated from the face of the Earth, and the long family feud of the Ubuyashiki clan is finally over.

The Demon Slayer corps are resolved, and the final panel shows a glimpse of a modern-day city.

As we know, the story of the Demon Slayers is set in a some-what feudal era. Showing a modern city in the final panel strongly implies a major time-skip in the series. This brings out endless possibilities.

Maybe demons re-emerge in modern-day Japan, perhaps we see reincarnations of our favorite characters. Or maybe the essence of Muzan has not died out from within Tanjiro, and he makes a comeback, or maybe this was all just Tanjiro’s dream. The only way to find out is to wait for chapter 205 to drop.

Personally, despite how the manga ends, I would love to see some indication that Kanroji and Iguro met again after being reincarnated.

Fans are, as expected, sad about the manga’s end. The series had just started getting insane amounts of readership, and it is uncommon that such a popular series comes to an end so quickly.

About Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotoge. Its publication in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump began in February 2016.

In a world filled with demons and demon slayers, Kimetsu no Yaiba follows the lives of two siblings Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado. They persisted after a great tragedy — the murder of their family at the hands of a demon. Their hardship does not end there, as Nezuko is barely spared to live as a demon.

As the oldest sibling, Tanjiro vows to protect and cure his sister. The story traces the bond of this brother-sister or better yet, demon slayer and demon combo against the odds of an arch antagonist and the society.
