Crunchyroll backs Zoe Saldana’s Studio to Zest up New Space Opera Series!

You might recognize Zoe Saldana as the gorgeous lady who plays the no-nonsense Gamora in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Her movie/series studio is ready for the most unexpected but thrilling collaboration ever!

Crunchyroll, our very own anime streaming tycoon, is banding together with Cinestar Pictures to bring us a brand-new animated series! It’s a collaboration that no one foresaw, but we all needed.

A grand animated space opera, Dark Star Squadron, is bringing together Crunchyroll and Cinestar Pictures. I bet you will add this series to your watchlist as soon as you know that Todd Ludy is onboard to write it.

I mean, who doesn’t know Todd’s work in Voltron: Legendary Defender?

Zoe Saldana, Cisely Saldana, and Mariel Saldana are the executive producers, while Sonia A. Gambaro and Maytal Gilboa will also contribute.

Dying to know what the new series will be about? We have you covered.

Four cadets from an academy are barely hanging on to their grades, yet they decide to go on a fun ride with a stolen spaceship (I totally understand that urge), only to return and find the academy in ruins.

Not only that, but all traces of people have also vanished! What will this bunch of flunking cadets do to not only save everyone else but also find out the culprit? Shenanigans ensue as a ragtag group of heroes set out on a mission.

Cinestar’s executive producers are proud of the storyline and were beaming when they commented,

As true animation and anime fans ourselves, we are so excited for the opportunity to partner with Crunchyroll to bring ‘Dark Star Squadron’ to a wide audience.

Crunchyroll has also hit the five million subscribers mark and now has 120 million registered users worldwide. General manager Joanne Waahe is of the opinion,

The tremendous growth of our streaming service is indicative of the growing love for anime and its deserved spotlight in popular culture.

I can’t wait to find out who will be voicing these happy-go-lucky main characters! Will Crunchyroll’s partnership help improve the animation? We can only wait to know who else will be in the cahoots.
