Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 Update will bring a host of new changes head of DLC

Cyberpunk 2077 developers CD Projekt Red have made quite some progress on the title since the initial days of launch when the title was very buggy and received quite some backlash from the gaming community.

During Gamescom 2023’s Opening Night Live show, developers CD Projekt Red announced that the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update will bring new gameplay features for free to all players who have an existing copy of Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty — New Ways to Play

During the Opening Night Live, fans of Cyberpunk 2077 got the first official look at the gameplay improvements and tweaks that the developers will be incorporating ahead of the release of the Phantom Liberty DLC in September.

One of the most significant changes to the 2.0 update is overhauling the redesigned perk and Cyberware System.  A specific new bonus allows players to deflect bullets with a sword. Other perks include a slow-mo air dash, deadeye, and a couple of new finishers.

The developers are also adding a new skill tree called the Relic Skill Tree. The new trailer showed off the abilities as well. The new Limiter Removal Relic allows players to launch enemies into the air with their bare first.

Another Relic, the Spatial Mapping Relic, allows players to point enemies out and dash at them quickly. The Launch Capacity override enables the player to fire multiple wrist-launcher grenades quickly.

The community was vocal about how the lack of vehicle combat affected the immersive action. In Cyberpunk 2077 2.0, players can engage with enemies while driving in several ways.

This includes peeking out of the car to shoot at the enemies, spinning the car around while firing a machine gun, and even hacking enemy vehicles, lending full control over the car, including a forced self-destruct.

The revamped AI police system in Cyberpunk will see the cops react more realistically. The 2.0 Update comes with over 100 new items. This includes new weapons, new pieces of cosmetic clothing, and new vehicles.

CD Projekt Red, during the announcement, did not draw a clear line of distinction between the features that will be available in 2.0 and the ones that will be available exclusively in the Phantom Liberty DLC.

However, fans expect the promise of “dozens of new story quests and gigs” and a “dangerous new district” behind the Phantom Liberty DLC paywall.

The changes will bring a whole new era of what is possible in Cyberpunk 2077 ahead of the Phantom Liberty DLC release on September 26th.

About Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, based on video game designer Mike Pondsmith’s game series.

Set in a dystopian cyberpunk universe, the player assumes the role of “V,” a mercenary in the fictional Californian city known as “Night City,” where they deal with the fallout from a heist gone wrong that results in an experimental cybernetic “bio-chip” containing an engram of the legendary rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) threatening to slowly overwrite V’s mind; as the story progresses V and Johnny must work together to find a way to be separated and save V’s life.
