Counter-Strike 2 developers Valve had invited a few players for CS2’s closed beta based on their in-game reputation in Counter-Strike Global Offensive.
Counter-Strike 2’s official Twitter handle asking what the players are doing next Wednesday, i.e., September 27th, has sent fans on a speculation spree that Counter-Strike 2 is possibly releasing on that date.
Regarding release dates, the developers of Valve have given a tiny hint. Initially, Valve promised and subsequently missed the Summer 2023 deadline for CS2.
It must be kept in mind that the Limited Testing or the Closed Beta is currently on. At the end of August, Valve announced they would invite as many eligible players as possible for the closed beta of Counter-Strike 2.
This could hint that Valve is closing in on the release of Counter-Strike 2. Fans of the Counter-Strike franchise will know that Valve is one of the few developers who prefer to take their time with their releases.
Thus, if bugs are found, Valve might not release Counter-Strike 2 next week. The timing, as noted by Forbes, is of prime importance.
The ESL Pro League, one of the biggest Counter-Strike Tournaments in the world, will be in its playoffs phase at that time. The release of Counter-Strike 2 will take away the limelight from the tournament.
However, it is unlikely that the final few matches will be played on the new Counter-Strike 2 instead of CS: GO. Until official confirmation, players should keep grinding in CS: GO as they will get to carry over their skins and progress to Counter-Strike 2.
Counter-Strike 2 brings a lot of new features to the table, including new and more responsive smoke in-game, along with new maps and ranking systems.
About Counter-Strike 2
Counter-Strike 2 is a free-to-play, upcoming first-person shooter game developed and published by Valve Corporation. The game is the successor to the widely popular Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO), which was initially released as a premium game but later transitioned to a free-to-play model.
Valve has stated that Counter-Strike 2 will feature a range of new and improved features, including upgraded visual effects, improved lighting, and reduced input lag.
Additionally, players will be able to bring their entire inventory of items from CSGO to the new game. The new lighting effects, thanks to the new Source 2 engine, will be available to the older gears.
Counter-Strike 2 was released on September 27th, 2023.
