Himeno sacrifices her life for Aki in episode 8 of Chainsaw Man, titled “Gunfire.”

It was a complete banger of an episode. Now we get the feeling that the real Chainsaw Man has started. The episode hit all the right boxes and delivered some splendid action and emotional scenes.

Everything was going well and fine at the beginning of the episode, but the second half of the episode took a dark turn as we saw devil hunters, including Makima, being attacked all around.

Some new powerful devils and fiends have shown up, and poor Himeno is dead now. Rest in Peace, Himeno-San.

Episode 9 Speculations

Denji will get up to fight the new devil in episode 9 of Chainsaw Man. Aki is left in utter shock after Himeno’s death, and it will be interesting to see what he will do in the next episode.

The anime is only going to get crazier from here. You can expect a lot of blood and gore in the upcoming episodes because it will be insane. With the amount of budget they are putting into this project, you can expect some of the best fight scenes in the next couple of episodes.

I really can’t wait to see Chainsaw Man Vs. Katana Man’s fight scene.

Episode 8 Recap

Himeno carries Denji to her room. She lays him down on the bed and goes to the bathroom to freshen up. When she returns, she gets over Denji, makes him drink beer mouth-to-mouth, and asks him if he wants to do it.

She starts undressing him and finds a lollipop in his pocket. The lollipop was given to him by Makima, along with some medicines to help with the drowsiness. It was to console him over his puke kiss.

Denji doesn’t do it with Himeno as he wants his first time to be with Makima, so Pochita has to wait until he kills the Gun Devil.

Himeno wakes up Denji in the morning, and they sit down to eat breakfast. Himeno allies with Denji to get Aki. In return, she will get him together with Makima. Makima is traveling to Kyoto by train when some strangers shoot her.

Other devil hunters are also attacked all around. Power, Denji, Aki, and Himeno are eating ramen at a shop when a stranger starts blabbering nonsense and shows Denji his grandfather’s photo.

He gets up and shoots Denji. Power punches him, and Fox Devil grabs him in her mouth. Aki finds Himeno shot and fatally wounded. Suddenly, the man comes out of Fox Devil in his devil form.

Aki engages in a fight with the devil. After three slashes, the Curse Devil finishes the new devil off. A strange girl appears out of nowhere and gets the new devil back on his feet again.

The devil slices Aki. Himeno tells the Ghost Devil to take whatever it wants from her and save Aki. The Ghost Devil takes a massive form and attacks the new devil. Himeno starts losing her body parts.

When the new devil nears his end, the girl unleashes a giant snake on the Ghost Devil, devouring it. Aki turns around to find Himeno gone with nothing except for her clothes left behind.

About Chainsaw Man

Chainsaw Man is a manga series by Tatsuki Fujimoto that was serialized from December 2018-2020 and returned in July 2022 with a second part. The series also received an anime series by MAPPA.

The manga’s plot revolves around Denji, an orphaned boy who has to work as a devil hunter to make a living and pay off his father’s debt.

However, his pet devil, Pochita is killed on a mission. Denji wakes up to realize he and Pochita have become a single being, Chainsaw Man. If he does not want to get killed, he has to join the government and continue hunting demons.
