5. Chapter 78 Recap
Shikamaru is notified that Naruto and Hinata’s chakras had departed the Uzumaki house in chapter 78 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generation, and they learn that Kawaki’s chakra had also just recorded there a few seconds earlier.
Himawari had returned home to find Naruto and Hinata gone. Everyone panicked when Eida verified Kawaki’s actions. Boruto dashed out of the room to fetch Kawaki after learning about the incident.
Eida had witnessed the discussion between Naruto and Kawaki using Eida’s Senrigan in chapter 78 of Boruto, and she had assured that Kawaki was preparing to murder Boruto again. Sarada discovered for the first time here that Kawaki was the one who murdered Boruto.
Shikamaru then explained why Kawaki was acting the way he was, and Sarada dashed towards Boruto, determined not to leave him alone again.
Boruto eventually meets Kawaki. The latter informed Boruto that he had used the Shinjutsu Dai-Kokuten to transport Naruto and Hinata to a location where time paused so they would not grow old and die of hunger.
Nevertheless, chapter 78 shows that Kawaki had not stopped and continued on his way to execute Sarada, but Boruto rushed in to save her, receiving the scar that Boruto fans have been waiting for.
Kawaki was starting to drain his power and was about to lose, but Momoshiki seized control of Boruto at that point, saved Kawaki by absorbing the Shadow Paralysis Jutsu, and ordered him to go. Everyone, even Kawaki, was taken aback by his Momshiki’s action.
Later, Momoshiki revealed to Boruto that he had already lost one of his blue eyes and that this was only the beginning of his losing of everything. This also signifies that Momoshiki’s prophecy is becoming a reality, implying that the time skip is approaching.
