Blue Period Anime’s New Trailer and Visual Show Art as A Form of Expression

Blue Period’s protagonist, Yatora Yaguchi, realizes that art is a language without words. The bittersweet series that portrays art’s ability to touch the soul of humans is now receiving a much-needed anime adaptation.

Yatora is described as a delinquent with good grades. He balances school, social and personal life perfectly but amidst all of this, he has forgotten how to feel. Everything seems dull until a single piece of painting plunges him into the world of art.

The Blue Period anime will premiere in October 2021 and it has revealed its first trailer.

The new trailer shows Yatora staring at the painting that awakened his longing to express himself. Soon, he wants to try drawing what he feels rather than what he sees. His first attempt at art is when he wants to paint the Shibuya mornings that come across to him as blue.

The girl who runs past him is Ryuji Ayukawa, an art club member who often skirmishes with Yatora. At the crossroads of life, Yatora has to decide if he will choose art or other “more profitable” subjects.

A new key visual has also been revealed for the upcoming anime.

About Blue Period

The Blue Period manga is created by Tsubasa Yamaguchi and published by Kodansha.  It was first serialized in Afternoon magazine in June 2017.

The Blue Period revolves around the life of Yataro Yaguchi, a highschool student. Yataro looks like a model student on the outside but fights with hollowness on the inside.

He is fascinated by a painting of the Art club and decides to take up art as a profession. His path is filled with obstacles, but he still expresses himself proudly with colors instead of words.
