Black Clover: Sword of The Wizard King: Release Date, Latest Update

The plot of the Black Clover film was kept under wraps until the first complete teaser was released in October 2022. At the time, it was revealed that the film’s title would be Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King.

According to official announcements, the next Black Clover film would be an independent, non-canon drama relating to a prior Wizard King but involving the anime’s major characters.

The film will be produced by Studio Pierrot and will not be a continuation of the anime. Thus any type of anime fan will be able to watch it without having to see previous seasons of the anime.

1. Black Clover: Movie Release Date

The creators have just announced the upcoming Black Clover Movie adaptation. Its release date is confirmed to be on March 31, 2023, which is precisely 2 years after the anime TV series ended.

On that day, the Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King movie will be streaming internationally on Netflix.

Since the film is already streaming on Netflix, a Black Clover movie USA release date in theaters is doubtful. A Black Clover movie English dub will almost certainly be developed in-house and released by Netflix.

Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King is the official title. The Black Clover movie plot description has yet to be revealed, and the October 2022 teaser didn’t give much away other than the fact that it’s “the never-before-seen saga of the wizard king.”

3. Key Visuals

As of now, the official page of Black Clover has released two key visuals related to the upcoming movie.

A teaser visual has been released for the upcoming movie. The visual shows Asta standing on a rooftop. The sunlight brightens his smiling face as the sun rises from the horizon.

We see Asta all banged up in the current picture, but his attitude stays the same: courageous and with the face of the forthcoming Wizard King.

4. Expected Storyline

While the plot of the film has not yet been revealed, the original story is being supervised by Yuuki Tabata, the author of Black Clover. Therefore the film will not follow a canon manga story arc, and Black Clover season 5 will start up the story again in the Spade Kingdom war arc. The story will apparently focus on a previous Wizard King named Conrad (or Konrad)

It’s unclear whether Wizard King Conrad will appear in a flashback or be reanimated by the undying ritual. If so, the new Black Clover character might be a villain rather than a beloved former Wizard King from the Clover Kingdom.

5. New Characters

Here is one of the new characters we will see in the upcoming movie:

8. About Black Clover

Black Clover is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yūki Tabata. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine since February 16, 2015.

The story centers around Asta, a young boy seemingly born without any magic power, something that is unknown in the world he lives in; and his foster brother Yuno who received the rare four-leaf grimoire and has more magic power than most people! With his fellow mages from the Black Bulls, Asta plans to become the next Wizard King.
