I. Season 1 (2017-18)

  • Path (Episode 29)

Mostly a summary episode. Asta and Yuno return to their village as accomplished Magic Knights and are the pride of their family in the orphanage. • Eye of the Midnight Sun’s Secret (Episode 66)

A summary episode with fan-service. Yuno, Mimosa, and Klaus go through the reports of the Eye of the Midnight Sun’s activities. They examine the attack on the Royal Capital, the battle with the Third Eye, and the attack on the Seabed Temple.

  • Battle to the Death?! Yami VS Jack (Episode 68)

A pretty uneventful episode. Yami and Jack seem to be a second away from a bloody war only to part take in petty fights such as squid stealing, thumb fighting, butt bumping contests. Asta sees a familiar blonde woman but can’t remember where he saw her before.

  • Petit Clover! The Nightmarish Charmy SP (Episode 82)

Charmy eats hallucination-inducing mushrooms that make him picture every other character in their chibi form. Basically, this episode is a collection of chibi-shots!

Episode 123 is mostly a recap of episodes 117-118, and episode 124 is Nero’s perspective on Asta’s early days.

  • Return (Episode 125)

An episode that fleshes out the personalities of the Black Bulls. They return to their original location and design a new base by incorporating everyone’s ideas and by taking inputs from everyone.

  • Those Who Have Been Gathered (Episode 134)

Asta and Noelle return to the Black Bulls’ base, but as soon as they get there, they’re taken away by Mereoleona. They are brought to the Vermillion estate where Captain Fuegoleon, Kirsch, Mimosa, and Sister Theresa were waiting for them. Thinking that they would be assigned to a new mission, Asta and Noelle are surprised when they receive an invitation for celebrating Sister Theresa’s 15 years as a nun.

  • The One Who Has My Heart, My Mind, and Soul (Episode 135)

Finral decides to change his ways and become a better man for Finnes, his fiancé. He asks Asta to help him, but his impulse to hit on every female land them both in a mixer. 2. Must Watch Fillers

Black Clover fillers are mostly recap episodes, so they’re not very great content-wise. There are a few non-recap fillers that are lighthearted and a breath of fresh air!

  • Battle to the Death?! Yami VS Jack (Episode 68)
  • Petit Clover! The Nightmarish Charmy SP (Episode 82)
  • Those Who Have Been Gathered (Episode 134)
  • The One Who Has My Heart, My Mind, and Soul (Episode 135)

Please note that these do not have serious battle-oriented storylines, so they are completely optional, and you can totally skip them!

3. Are Fillers The Same as Anime Canon Episodes?

Black Clover has anime canon episodes apart from fillers. Anime canons are different from fillers because they are actually incorporated by the creator of the manga, Yuki Tabata. He has looked over some of the anime-exclusive episodes instead of letting the staff churn out useless fillers.

There are 19 anime-exclusive or anime canon episodes in Black Clover as of September 2020.

Anime Canon Episodes: 3, 13, 55-56, 130-133, 136-146

Do not skip these anime-canon episodes, as they have a well-structured storyline and, despite lacking a manga arc, are really fun to watch!

4. When Will Black Clover Get Back To The Manga-Canon Episodes?

Season 3 of Black Clover is still ongoing. There are 144 episodes released so far, and the current arc is an anime-exclusive arc. This season will end with a total of 154 episodes, and currently, we can only expect the current arc (10th arc) to end this season.

Season 4 hasn’t received an official release date yet, but we can expect to see more manga-oriented content if the show gets a season 4.
