Baldur’s Gate 3, developed by Larian Studios, is one of the biggest RPG releases in 2023. It is an extensively designed game with over 17000 endings and many customization features.
The PC version of Baldur’s Gate 3 has reached great heights and has been the best-rated game of 2023 on Metacritic. It ranks ahead of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and is one of the highest-rated games of all time.
The developers, Larian Studios, have announced that they have sorted out the Parity Agreement between Microsoft, meaning that Baldur’s Gate 3 can be released on the Xbox Series X and Series S but without the split-screen co-op feature, potentially this year, as confirmed by CEO and founder Swen Vincke.
Under the Parity Agreement, no title can be released exclusively on the Xbox Series X or Series S. They must be released together.
However, Series S is a less powerful and, therefore, less capable variant of Series X. This is why Larian Studios faced difficulties with the split-screen cooperative mode.
As the Series S version of Baldur’s Gate 3 was going through the problem, the Series X version could not be released because of the Parity Agreement.
However, because of technological limitations, the Series S will not feature the split-screen co-op mode. The PlayStation 5 version is set for release in September with no delays, as per developers at Larian Studios.
Fans eagerly await the Xbox and PlayStation ports of Baldur’s Gate 3. Larian Studios will be looking to expand their horizons after the massive success and tremendous response they got from the PC version of Baldur’s Gate 3.
