The Bad Batch Could Impact Other Star Wars Shows in the Franchise

Star Wars: The Bad Batch’s producers explain how the animated series is connected to other shows within the Star Wars universe.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch is a spin-off of The Clone Wars and follows a group of mutated clone troopers who are more efficient as soldiers than the others. The members together form a team called the Clone Force 99 and act as mercenaries from the Empire 6after learning about Order 66.

The series is set between the Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels and provides a new perspective on the aftermath of Order 66 and the lives of the clones after it. The producers have now opened up about how they made sure the plot is completely in sync with the other shows within the universe.

While speaking to Comicbook.com, one of the producers of The Bad Batch, Jennifer Corbett, explains how the series fits perfectly into the Star Wars universe. Here’s what she said –

“Where we are in The Bad Batch, it’s a bit early into the era of the Empire that we’re far enough away from Obi-Wan and Andor. But that’s not to say that some of the storylines that we have don’t affect those shows. We really rely on, you know, the Lucasfilm Story Group, who is with us whenever we have story conferences, and they comment on storylines if some are veering into territory that could affect other things that are either in development or are currently being made, we’re made aware of that. But so far, we haven’t been told, ‘No, you can’t do that because of this.’ It’s really more of a collaboration and just making sure that we’re telling the best stories without affecting other things coming up.”

Jennifer Corbett & Brad Rau Interview: Star Wars The Bad Batch Season 2

The Bad Batch has daringly managed to shift its focus from the Republic to the Empire, something that other shows were unable to do. This gives the show a unique position within the Star Wars franchise.

However, this means that the writers of The Bad Batch have to be extra careful with the script, as even small changes can create a ripple effect and change things for other shows in the universe. The show is also proving to become a good stage for the return of old characters. For instance, The Bad Batch season 2 is all set to bring back Commander Cody.

The transition from clone troopers to stormtroopers and its effect on Clone Force 99 is also an important aspect of the series. Tarkin is now looking forward to shift to a force with different genetical composition, and it could mean that the end is near for the clones.

The Bad Batch could also potentially explore the fate of the clone cadets after Order 66, which is yet to be explored on screen. The show also introduces a character in the same suit as Dr. Pershing from The Mandalorian, which could be a hidden connection to the Mandalorian.

Another exciting effect that The Bad Batch can have on the universe concerns one of the most popular characters of the universe, Ahsoka Tano.

The series explores the lives of the clones in the aftermath of Order 66 in a much deeper and more detailed way. This means whatever the series establishes could significantly impact the upcoming Star Wars series focusing on Ahsoka Tano.

I hope you are as excited as we are to witness this all unfold!
