Episode 12 of Attack on Titan, season 4, part 2, titled “Dawn of Humanity,” is the latest installment of the anime.
The finale of part 2 gave us a lot to unpack. The episode began with a flashback to the time before Eren launched a full-scale attack on Liberio.
The gang shared loads of light-hearted moments, and it seemed like Eren wanted to avoid the rumbling, too, but after he saw how the world outside the walls treated Eldians, his decision to destroy them became rock solid.
We saw how he convinced Historia to keep his plan a secret. Even though his idea of freedom was messed up, Floch and the Jeagerists helped him through the process. Finally, the episode’s climax showed us the true extent of Eren’s rage.
As the Wall Titans marched towards the continent, we were reminded of the time when the Colossal Titan appeared outside the walls for the first time.
This time, however, the scale of destruction was a million times more, and no amount of canons could ever save humanity from the massive titans.
The genocide of all humanity has begun, and it’s now up to Armin, Mikasa, and the others to stop Eren from killing everyone outside Paradis.

Part 3 of the final season will continue with the rumbling. The poster showed the ex-Survey Corps and the Marleyan alliance standing inside a giant footprint of one of the Wall Titans. This showing that they’ve arrived on the continent and are prepared to finally face Eren.
Episode 12 ended on chapter 130 of the manga, so there are only 9 chapters left to be adapted. Studio Mappa has announced that the anime will continue with another part, but there aren’t enough chapters for a full-length season.
A year-long break is going to be hard for us fans, but I’m sure the wait is going to be worth it.

Episode 12 Recap
The episode opens with Mikasa having a flashback to the time when she and the rest of the Survey Corps were on an undercover mission to Marley.
Since it was the first time they were out of Paradis, they had loads of new experiences, including ice cream, looking at clowns, and watching cars pass by.
Their entertainment is cut short when a boy steals Sasha’s purse, and all the Marleyans turn on the kid. This is when the team realizes how much the world hates the people of Paradis.
Up to this point, Eren actively tries to avoid the future where the rumbling takes place but after witnessing more hate directed towards them at an international conference, his decision to take the violent way out only strengthens.
That day is the last day he spends with his friends, and after enjoying a fun night out, he sets out on a mission to attack Liberio. He becomes a member of the Marleyan army and injures himself deliberately to gain access to the hospital in Liberio.
We then see his conversation with Yelena as Floch eavesdrops. Later, Eren explains how he wants him to pretend to go along with Zeke’s euthanization plan and kill all their enemies once they get the power of the Founder.
He also convinces Historia to keep quiet about his plan and eventually plans a full-scale attack.
We cut back to the present, where the Wall Titans are swimming toward the continent. The scene resembles the time when the Colossal Titan first destroyed Wall Maria, but this time, the scale of destruction is incomparable.
The human military and their high-tech weapons fail in front of the thousands of titans ready to crush them. As the episode ends, Eren emerges from behind the Wall Titans while his face holds an expression of pure hatred.
